New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Effective and short. The way good commercials ought to be.
What part did you play here, camera? sound? script? directing?
I particularly like the Dr. on call. Could you please provide some details of camera settings, post work?

Love it! ;D

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

The doctor getting to hospital on time was really effective - seriously well done Mike, super-professional!

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Hey mic how did u record the VO for the CC_Concrete clip? Its sounds really damn good!

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Nice. The doctor on call who is responding in a black Durango is particularly well done. Nice hands free shot in the cabin. Let's hear some details on the production.

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Beautiful top quality work, better than any local commercials I see on television. The writing/creatives especially worked but the solid cinematography really sold it. Excellent work.

You should take a look at www.sevenseats.com and try your hand at their contest...seems its right up your alley. $10,000 prize for a 30 second Subaru spot.

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Seriously man, nice stuff. Makes me itch to get moving forward with my own commercials, and that's the best praise I can think of.

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Hey, Mike. I watched CC_Concrete_compressed.mov -- I think it looks/sounds awesome. There is one shot I don't like as much as the others: the girl with the basketball hoop in the background. The hoop is a little distracting, in my opinion.

Re: New DVX footage! PLEASE COMMENT

Hey guys. Thanks for your response. I really appreciate your comments. This honestly, has to be the the best online forum I have ever found...thanks to professionals like you.

Here is a little more detail on the production. As I mentioned, the entire project has been low budget. I knew that the company was looking for a "typical corporate video", however the thought of producing a corporate video really bored me. I needed some way to make it interesting for me. So, I pitched the company on making their industry "concrete, aggregates & construction" more personal. I wrote the spots, pitched it to the company and they loved the ideas. These spots will serve as commercials as well as video vignettes which will be used to segway different sections of the company DVD.

To answer your questions:

DvPixl- The spots were not glass filtered

Soliton- A little-bit of the one man band scenario...I did the writing, the directing, the camera work, and the post work. I did however, have location audio provided by a friend of mine.

Camera settings:
24p Advanced
Detail level- 0
V Detail level 0
Chroma level 0
Chroma Phase 0
Color Temp 0
Master Ped -5
Gamma- Cinelike_D
Knee-Auto
Matrix- Cine-like
Skin tone DTL- off

Post took place in FCP. Color correction in FCP, with a little bit of "Magic Bullet". Sound Design in Soundtrack. Graphics composited in Motion.

Magdi- All the voiceovers were recorded through a company called ProComms. www.procomms.com. They provide an excellent service. You can browse for voice talent online, listen to samples, choose the desired talent, and then they schedule a recording session with a recording studio. The recording studio calls you and patched you into the recordiing studio by telephone so you can hear the talent and give direction. When you are finished, they post the files on an FTP site for you to retrieve. A very cool, affordable, time-efficient service.

HunterG- The Doctors name is John Journey. A local friend of mine.

ExFilms- Thanks man for the suggestion on the contest, I will check it out.

Gabe- Thanks Gabe fore your feedback on the shot, I appreciate it.

LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS! THANKS AGAIN GUYS...

mike
