New credit card...

Charli

cool little "title"
I'm so glad I'm not one to get in debt, though I do now have a $3k limit on new
card... need a tripod.

Charli

Yea, Yea...is that all you can talk about is that boat anchor? You're like a broken record. Come up with something new already

I think I isolated the problem down to the power supply...I'm changing it out tonight with the one in my machine and see if that solves the issue.

Awesome.

Okay, something new... something new...

Got it. Why is this not funny? Discuss:

Credit card debt is as american as apple pie.

I consider it a civic duty to max out cards and be in debt up to your eyeballs!

well said. pass me a piece of that pie! :)

I predict money will become a thing of a past when we have a stock market crash and all the countries in the world start asking for the money back that we borrowed.

Vid - lol, something that will hold about 30lbs. You got one in your pocket there,
Vid? I'm still looking and yeah, the tripod was the first thing I thought of when
I got the card. We have family credit cards, but this one, ah, this one is all mine.
Guilt free spending.

Hehe, nice one, gotta love them CCs!

30lbs you say? That's a LOT!
I was able to try a Bogen 526 head at NAB, and I must say this thing was simply AWESOME!!! Checked out what Sachtler, Vinten, and Miller had to offer, and they simply weren't as nice (or their booth's set-up was so bad it couldn't be easily compared).
This 526 is as smooth as silk, and can handle the 30lbs, no sweat.

Bogen teams it up with a couple of different tripods, although funnily enough, one seems a tad "flimsy" (the 3193) for the head (although it IS rated for the weight); and the other is almost overkill (the 528XB).
I have the 528XB's predecessor, and although this is a heavy tripod, it IS AMAZINGLY sturdy, and can handle 60lbs!

Price at B&H is $1440 for the head alone, $1600 with the 3193 sticks, and $1700 with the 528XB:

(WARNING: once you try a 526 with a full sized cam, you won't want to settle for anything less than a REAL fluid head ever again...can someone say" BUTTER"???)

God bless American, Vid. Sweet Lord! That's one expensive sucker there. I want
to eventually put a crane on tripod, so I'm thinking ahead here, that's the reason why I
want to hold at least 30 lbs. I was considering the Miller, but you say you like Bogen
better? Hmmm. I'll have to think about that one.

Yes, fluid head is the only way to go, why I won't do the 501 or the 503. I almost
bought the 516 head, but I was watching another tripod, a Sachtler and that
bidding went out of control.

Yes, butter good. Thanks for the help, Vid.

You're very welcome!
But: Aha! That's a little different then: I wouldn't SUBJECT such a sweet head to the abuse of a crane. Look at Kessler crane; they offer a fluid swivel head that is low cost and does a great job (from what I gather; I don't have one yet).

So, if 'all' you have is a small cam with accessories, the 516 will work just fine. The Cartoni Focus 100 seems popular here too, and has great features.

But I reckon you'll probably just end up with a great deal on a SUPER O'Connor head & tripod off eBay anyway, and laugh at us mere mortals who use Bogen!! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Maybe that's better than trying to fit everything on one tripod. On the tripod
I'll have an on camera monitor, mattebox, 35mm adapter, maybe even a VidLed
when ocassion arises (heh). So there will be weight on the head.

That's a lot of gear, so I suppose I won't be running with the camera, huh?

$3K? Nyeah, nyeah, nyeah, nyeah, nyeah. Chase likes me better. They set mine at $17K.

So why haven't I bought an HVX?

Because, evidence to the contrary, I'm not an idiot. :)

Well, if I had an immediate need for an HVX and a strong possibility of recouping the cost in a timely fashion...
