New controller for Panasonic Cameras from Studio 1 Productions

We've got a fluorescent light kit in the Victoria Video Club...the lights were not overly expensive ($1,200ish) and run very cool compared to the construction lights we used to use..!! I'd love to go to NAB, but I still find amazing, cool gadgets just on the internet...and find myself clicking the 'purchase' button too often...!!

Getting close to 3 years from the time I started to use the ProZoom™ Panasonic Zoom/Focus Controller.

Nothing is changed - I still would not consider going out to a site without this controller.

I don't see a lot of posts re the Panasonic AG-!C160A but, for me, it remains a "good choice at the time" for recording live stage events (typically out of necessity done from a distance of 60+feet). The 22x zoom lens is, of course, very important for such recordings.

I do miss a lot of shots with the setup I typically have to do and am intrigued by the DJI Osmo. It started off with a bang, then there were immediate problems, but iit seems these have been fixed with a firmware update. The footage I have seen is impressive.

DJI is best known for quadcopters but I cannot get excited over these as legislation is likely to severely restrict their use. I figure if I had one of these, with a proper cam on it, the insurance would be quite expensive.

Philip Johnson (hdwarrior.co.uk) seems to have a good handle on the Osmo.

I have 3 of theses Studio 1 controller and they are great, in use for 3 years and no problems...just plug in and away you go...great slow zooms. I also have 2 VariZoom controllers for our Panasonic camera I use for 4 years, one has been sent back for repairs twice and still drifts into a creeping zoom during use. I prefer the rocker zoom control on the VariZoom for fast paced live events, but the Studio 1 is also good. I use them on our AC-160A, MC40, and AF 100A (with Panasonic zoom lens).
