New commercial done with GH1 - 1080p available

Larz-Kristerz and Sony Music were so happy with my last years effort for them that they asked me to do the commercial for their new album "Små ord av guld" (Small Words of Gold). Uploaded in 1080 so the full HD Quicktime file is available for members. The fourth song was shot at 720p to avoid too much rolling shutter jello as we were grabbing those takes in their tour bus. It's broadcasted in PAL SD.

I used Canon FD lenses - 20mm f/2.8, 24mm f/2.0 and 35mm f/2.0. Formatt ND 4x4 glass filters on the daytime scene.
GH1 hacked with lpowell's High Reliability patch.

Band has a incredibly tight schedule so this was a solo run'n'gun job over two separate days whenever they happened to have a break between other assignments.

Thanks for the vote of confidence in my patch, Martti. The video looks clean and the editing is flawless. It's great to see our efforts resulting in professional work!

Nice. Like the grading. Figured the soft focus at :19 was to emphasis the CD, but next shot was the same - on purpose? Absolutely nothing wrong with it, just curious.

Nevermind, just noticed your comment about 720p. It took me awhile to work up the courage to listen again :) but figured out that's the 4th song. Is there really that much difference when upscaling 720, or was it also indeed soft focus? In any case, very nice job on all aspects...though, I would have personally chosen different music.

A big big thanks to you for testing out all the stuff and releasing the excellent patch. I'm horrible at such thorough testing, too eager to get to a job done to pay enough attention to the details.

The softness on those two clips are a combined result of 720p upscaled, the FD 20mm f/2.8 at full open and pure user error: I had missed the info that when setting shutter below 1/50 (PAL mode) in 720 then one shouldn't use the highest quality setting of lpowell's patch but rather the lowest quality setting as some encoding bug creeps in and the bitrate goes really low. I was a bit lacking of light so I went for a 1/25 shutter there unknowingly invoking some extra softness. Live and learn. Luckily the client liked the softness, thought it was appropriate for the section.

In any case, very nice job on all aspects...though, I would have personally chosen different music.

Thanks! And well, the music is what I supposed to sell for them - that's the product.

Understood...I'm frequently a bit of a smart ass. :)

And thanks for the explanation about the soft focus. Like I said, nothing at all wrong with it, especially if the client likes it.

looks great! you guys rock n roll with a different flavour where you are :o) all good tho! rock on!
