Hey everyone, this is my first time posting any footage on here, but I thought I'd put up a link for our newest comedy short, "For the Love of Family." In short, it's basically about a guy who thinks if he can buy his mom breast implants it will save his family. Let me know what you guys think! I'd really appreciate it. I know some of the shots are sort of blown out (shooting outside is rough, especially when your actors don't want to cooperate.) Alright, thanks alot.

hey ilooklikemark, thanks for sharing that. it was good... and since you posted it here i assume you want my take. here goes...

first, it was very obvious that you were shooting with just one camera. i dont need to go into detail in how to fix this but what i will say is... try to make sure every line mixes with the conversation. it felt like we were jumping back and forth really rigidly during conversations.

second, take that camera off the tripod and give it a spin! all of the shots were so stationary i wanted to cry! mix it up! also, try to make sure your image isn't quite as flat. you probably shot your short in 24 but it didnt look anything like film. perhaps you werent going for that look (if not, i recommend it) -- but if you were, you need to really tweak your settings more to attain it. also, the audio was very low-quality in the beginning. i'm not sure if its the compression (although im sure its not, the rest of the audio wasnt too bad) or not but whatever it is... try to clear that up =)

my favorite part was at the gas station when the main character was walking back to the car after pissing and the tripod scanned over to his friend getting arrested and then scanned back to him tripping because he was running away. I literally bursted out laughing when that happened! Also, did you incorporate his head bandage because they actually hit his head in the car? i can see that being on the blooper reel -- it reminds me of Lord of the Rings when Viggo Mortensen broke his toe as he kicked a helmet (because he thought he had lost the halflings) and then fell on his knees and let out an amazing yell of agony. they used it in the film!

good lines, interesting story... definitely an immature short =) but hey, everyone's gotta get it out of their system sometime...

"and when i get back, i'm going to give it to your mom." - "the money?" - "well, that too."

I actually enjoyed that short. What mic were you using for that? The sound was pretty good. And what did you guys use to edit that on... I saw something like green distortion in the clip when the cherokee jeep pulled up what was that distortion. I had something similar like that happen in some of my clips and have not figured out what was the cause of it.. overall pretty funny and good acting.

We used a Sennheiser M66 mic and edited on FCP. I sort of like the flat look and feel of things and I've always been stuck to the tripod. I've seen way too many student short films that never feature tripods and it kills me. The audio at the beginning was suppose to sound bad because two characters were suppose to sound like they were in other rooms. And yeah, we only had one camera, which is unfortunate.

Thanks for the comments, I really do appreciate them.

That **** was FUNNY!!! MAAAAAAD funny! I don't even care about the production, the actors or NONE of ANYTHING ANYBODY is talking about, you made me luagh EVERY minute! Hell...2 or 3 times a minute! And that big guy that got busted for selling the fake weed...hillarious! Work on your cam work, keep the sense of humor...and you'll be the **** one day.

well, it seems like the going take here is that everyone loves your video. nice work, then, man... sorry i came down hard. =) it WAS funny, i'll admit.

No it's cool you came down hard. There are problems in it, I admit. What sucks is that I was the main actor (not sure if I was any good) so I couldn't be behind the camera to control anything. I had to do a lot in post to correct color and some scenes I couldn't get looking like I wanted it to so it was frustrating.

And also, the cop really shoved his head into the car, so I threw it in there and had the actor wear a head band. It fazed him for a few minutes but everyone couldn't stop laughing.

Thanks everyone.
