new clerks 2 trailer

he should have just turned it into a tv sitcom.
Actually, he did. ABC did a TV sitcom pilot in 1995 called "Clerks." (note the period). It starred Jim Breuer and never got picked up. Kevin Smith had nothing to do with it, excpet selling the TV rights, that is.

Oh, and it was terrible.

Saw the entire trailer today before X-Men. Looks like garbage, and not in a good way like the first one. Smith is tired.

Although I do hold in respect the Little Indie That Could story of the original Clerks, I still say Mallrats is far and away Smith's funniest contribution. It may be more guy humor, sure - but IMO Jason Lee, Ben Affleck and the rest of the cast were on comically. Plus, the on-going gags in this one worked for me...for example,
"...to **** them some place very uncomfortable."
"What, like the back of a Volkswagen?"

Other than the two I mentioned, his other films were let-downs for me all around...with Chasing Amy being hands down the worst of the bunch.

I totally agree. I couldn't have said it better myself.

According to one source and Kevin Smith, the screening of Clerks 2 at Cannes got an 8 minute standing ovation by the end of the movie.

So maybe it's good.

ya there's actually a video of the ovation that they're going to put on the clerks 2 site as a making of blog... harvey weinstein told smith that in all his years at cannes he's never seen that long of an ovation at a midnight screening... ever..

definitely can't wait for it.

I don't think the ovation means squat. He's a cult phenom with die-hard fans that would sit through a close-up of poo-poo for two hours, and still give an ovation. Not to mention it's a midnight showing, which means the true die-hard youth was in attendence. Maybe it is good, but I wouldn't base it off this 'ovation'. Looks terrible in my opinion.

I'll have to clear my calendar for Clerks 2....... not.

I didn't think there was anyone out there hammering to find out what happened to Dante and Randall.

just so everyone's clear on the release date

JULY 21st. go out and see it!

EDIT:

i planned on putting a banner in here that had a link to stuff for the movie but i forgot that HTML code doesnt work.
