new citi disk hdv recorder

The Citidisc is a good product, less expensive and lighter than the Firestore and it worked well when we were SD on 100As and XL1s. However, that being said, I don't know that it's certified for the HD100. There's alot more going on in an HD configuration than in the SD days. If it is certified for the 100, it's price and weight make it a truly viable alternative. Remember, Forestore had a difficult time of it not because Firestore didn't work but because it didn't perform up to JVC standards. There's something to be said for that. I don't wear "logo" clothing because I've never been able to figure out why I should advertise for someone who's not paying me to further their company. The same philosophy applies here. I'd gladly go Citidisk especially considering the number of cameras I have to outfit IF it performs to JVC standards comparable to the Firestore. Until I'm sure, I'll pay the extra money for an insurance against catastrophy. In set production, you can always reshoot if you see problems like dropped frames or something. With sports, it's not an option. You can'tr recapture a run and, with 4 cameras in the field, I need all the angles all the time. If anyone knows about the integrity of the Citidisk, please let us all know. Stephen, you're usually up on all the new stuff!!! What say you Lad of Lakewshore Drive??? And by the way, is it true that I hear Bergdorf's actually did close?

Thanks Jonathan it seem like the best value for the money, but I may have to wait til I go to the NAB to see it work for my self hope the company will be their to demonstrate their product! I will be looking at a variety of products at the NAB This being one of them.

That's where you'll find the real deal info because you can compare statements right then and there by dragging the guy who said what over to the guys who said that. We're still putting our get-together together but Barrry's having a shindig so I look forward to seeing you there.
