New cards, shorter record time?

This may have been discussed in the several threads regarding the best sdhc card thread so I apologize if I this has been answered. I recently had two cheaper cards fail on me. I decided to replace all my cheaper cards with Sandisk Ultra class 4 cards, 16GB. All of my other, cheaper cards gave me 99 minutes of record time. The Sandisk cards give me 97 minutes after format in both my HMC 150 and 40. I am wondering if I should be concerned about this, or if it's normal. Even my 16GB panasonic gold class 10 that I got free with HMC 150 says 99 minutes, so it just seems to be the Sandisk cards.
Any info or reassurance that this is normal would be appreciated.

I have the same thing with my four new Sandisk Extremes. My five 16GB Transcends gave me 99 minutes, the Sandisks all give me 97. I just assumed it's normal.

Taking a shot in the dark here as I don't have a Sandisk card:

I don't want to do the math but it most likely has to do with the fact that the cheaper ones are actually 16GB cards (1024GB x 16 = 16384MB) whereas the Sandisk ones are 1000GB x 16GB = 16000MB.

Ever wonder why your hard drive says 1TB on the box but only formats to 900GB or so? Same principle.

The extra 384MB is equivalent to around 2 minutes of shooting.

This is normal with Sandisk. Their capacity are lower than the other cards. Just look at their free space.

It is the same thing with their Sandisk Extreme 32 GB. I have one and a 32 GB Panasonic. The Panasonic has 199 minutes and the Sandisk 196, if I remember well.
