New Canon cmos-camera at IBC?

Will there be sth to look forward to?

Yeah , I know, a cheapshot, but this is the first in all those years (well, as I remember...), so please forgive me!

Thing is: IBC is straight ahead and besides all the hype around the 7D, there´s still nothing from Canon on a new XL series - or is there?

Is it all that difficult to put the existing technology (5D/7D) inside a video housing, adding only XLR, viewfinder and a flipout LCD...?

I know that Canon´s photo and video department are seperated, but there should still be some sort of communication going on.
(Actually I wouldn´t be surprised at the moment, if Canon dropped their prosumer line completely and sell more VDSLRs...)

I hope that eventually, there will be some sort of XL-H1 or XH-A1 video DSLR hybrid next year. For now, I'm pretty excited at what a 7D could offer though. I think they'll wait a bit to announce video stuff so as not to step on the 7D's toes.

This has been discussed many times over and over again. I hear the footsteps of the camcorder you are talking about, Canon is heading there slowly but surely.
If 7D HDMI output is not crippled(hence a better recording codec output allowed) easily this little gadget is the product of 2009.
If it is crippled(which it is ;)) still good news as it may well mean that a XL-H2(or whatever name it will be) is on its way.
Wonder what will be the Red's next step about their upcoming product release dates?
