New camera ships today!

I just got an email from b&h and my dvx shipped today. it should be here on the 28th (also the first day of film class).

i'm excited but also like, scared! what if i break it? what if it's too confusing? what if i find out that i suck?? what if my brother sneaks over in the middle of the night and steals it???

j/k bro.
 
Congratulations! Enjoy.

It's not as fragile as it seems. Pamper it when possible and you'll most likely be OK.

Too confusing? Well, I was able to shoot a couple of things with it that didn't turn out that bad. Even got a small award for cinematography. You'd have to know me and my lack of technical ability to know that what that means is that if I can use it anybody can use it. Really.

Suckability is really a subjective thing, so I wouldn't worry about that one.

If your brother steals it, kick his ass as you're yelling "girls rule".

Well if all those things happen thin it will make a nice desk acessory, and will be a good conversation peace.

But you'll do fine, when you get it from B&H make sure you check that you have everything. And take the camera and kind of shake it. If you get a cluncking sound or it sounds like something is moveing, you'll need to send it back you got one with a bad servo.

There'll be no sneaking...I'll simply walk in the front door, say Hi, grab a Pepsi from the fridge, pick up the camera and head to the car! :evil: :grin:

Believe me, I know...and I would have had to hear you gripe and complain...and would have to wait for however long it took to get it back from warranty repair, only to hear you gripe and complain some more because the clunk was still there after all that :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)


Now you just need to buy sticks, lenses, a matte box, filters, steadi-cam, dolly, crane, production monitor, lavs, mics, booms, apple boxes, cords, a 2nd unit cam, and a whole list of other things...but don't stress out over it

The funny thing about the clunk noise is that I had spent so much time here before I ever laid hands on a DVX, even partaking in harassing the n00bs asking about the clunk, that once I got a DVX in my hands I had it for two days before I realized I hadn't noticed the "clunk" and had to shut off the cam and try to make it happen. :grin:
 
Cara - you will suck, really, really suck - heh, j/k you'll do fine. Point the camera
at the actors however, not at the cute guy on the sidewalk, but if you do see
a cute guy on the sidewalk, get his number.
 
I'm going crazy. The 28th is NEVER going to get here.

In the meantime, i got my books for school and they are something to look at while i wait. i also got this cool little campus parking pass that hangs from your rearview mirror, so today, i had to go to Kragen and buy a rear view mirror...
(yeah, um, the original one fell off like 3 years ago.)
I'm gonna go install it now. At least when I'm done I'll be 20 minutes closer to the 28th!!!!

I know exactly how you feel....cause I am also anxiously awaiting the 28th (so I can rush down to your house and steal the camera off the porch before you get home :evil: )
