Hi I get my new camera tomorrow.

Is there anything I should do with it to run it in or any specials tips for a new camera?

Any definite DONTS apart from the usuals like not letting the dog chew it?

Thanks

get a U.V or Clear filter to protect the lens from scratches and dirt. Use only one type of tape. don't mix tapes (dry or wet).

I hadn't thought about the clear lense.

Yeah... it's important to keep your lense as clean as possible. Most people will put the UV filter over their lense right out of the box (before even playing with it), and leave it on at all times. Then when it's time for a new one, just switch the filter out with another.

David had great advice, I second that. That's what I always do with a new camera, get the uv screw-n filter for it, leave it there. Just protection for your lens.
And definitely use the same brand of tape always. If it's a Panasonic use Panasonic tapes on it. If it is some other brand, use the tape that is recommended for it.
Oh Yeah, and if you mount it to a car... use safety straps. New cameras just sound worse, skidding along the pavement.
I always get a pelican case (with foam) for every camera. (cases4less) It's worth the protection.
Happy Shooting!!

I've had my dvx100b for a year now and in that time i've drowned it twice on exterior shoots in the rain, once it didnt even turn on the next day so i had to keep it in the airing cupboard over night to dry, it's fallen off my skateboard dolly, been dropped, i've shot directly into the sun with an unprotected lens many times, it's been pistolwhipped by a replica beretta, strapped to a bike, and countless other stuff, but still it goes on. I've either been amazingly lucky or it's one tough little guy, or both.
