New Blackmagic Camera July 16th?

The best looking footage from any newly released camera. When Blackmagic makes a smaller camera with that chip I'm in.

Looks awesome Note - especially the color in the low(er) light parts.
Thanks Frank!

excellent work!
Thank you.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look.

Here is more footage with the Ursa Mini Pro 12K:
Some short clips from my lens/scenes test alongside some music + voice over.

It's mainly shot in 12K but with 2 or so in 8K (and one in 12K 2x anamorphic).
My experience so far has been great.
One of the first things I noticed was how dense the colors were and how flexible the files are. There's a lot of variations that you can end up in, and that's a great thing.

This camera (and the people using it) is producing some incredible footage. The best I have ever seen from a new camera. Blackmagic have really nailed it. Can't wait to see how they develop it. I have cancelled my pre-order for the C300 mk3. One of the very few good aspects of the lockdown is I don't need a main camera to deal with the trickle of work I'm getting right now and can wait to see what new goodies come along.

Why did you cancel your c300 iii? What type of work do you need the camera for? I am leaning towards the C300 III but considering this Ursa 12k. I have never used Blackmagic cameras before but this one seems to offer some powerful features and colors. I am not too crazy about the body design but can overcome it. The c300III with it's DGO sensor has nice DR. and the DPAF is very nice but not good in 120p. I am looking at cinema cameras for a dual purpose, corporate interviews and narrative film. Would like to see some tests for DR, moire/aliasing and ISO on the Blackmagic before I get serious about it.

There were 3 frame rates used: 24fps | 33fps | 60fps

Looks very nice. Are you able to share some DR, ISO, moire/aliasing tests?

I want the next camera to last a while as I've been changing too often, Canon-Sony-Canon-Sony! It just gets too bloody expensive losing money on the bodies and changing lenses as well. That's why I like Puredrifting's signature: It's just a business. Implying just get the camera that does the job and stick with it.

I was strongly considering the Komodo but the lack of good AF and IBIS, which the C300/3 has, put me off. I'm not interested in the slowmo capabilities of the 300/3; it's vastly overdone and now usually completely unnecessary. Also, I have yet to see footage from the Komodo that is as "awesome" as the Red fanboys claim. I've looked at dozens of Vimeo and YT sequences but genuinely haven't seen anything that my C300/2 could not have done at least as well and that the 300/3 could also do. But then footage started appearing from the BM 12k and it looks great. I hate the term "filmic" but it certainly has a quality that I've only seen in a well handled Arri. Again, the lack of AF and IBIS are a minus for me so I'm hoping BM can get that sensor into a body with those two features and then it's down to reliability. I agree, I'd like to see more info about DR, etc but the sheer quality of the footage is compelling.

I might still go with the 300/3 as I like the Canon colours and reliability but I wanted to wait to see what else might come along in the next couple of months. But it's a great time to be choosing a camera (and set of lenses) to last maybe 5 years.

I kind of don't want to like this camera very much simply because of my aversion to shooting a 12k raster but that footage from Swaneon looks superb, very Arri-like. It has that smooth, organic quality
that I have not seen from any Sony or Canon, it's definitely the Arri look but it has a bit of it's own personality as well. Very impressive, I think BMD has a winner with this new sensor and processing
technology that is so much more important than raster size. You can tell from the first few seconds of footage. I've only shot with the UMP G2 a few times and while it looked nice, it didn't look like this.

I have this camera on the short list for our studios next camera system. The ability to shoot so many resolutions and frame rates really is appealing and the colours look great. Braw also seems like a great step forward in quality and efficiency. Well done BM. Can't wait to see more of these in the wild.

If you can deal with 4K then 12K really doesn't feel any different. It seems like there’s not much of a “cost” to shoot 12K. On my current film I’m planning to switch between 12K and 8K because of the difference in RS times...
