hey, the guys that make our batteries have these new chargers for the DVX... they are pretty cool, have a nifty Backlit LCD that shows battery condition in 10% increments and has an auto mode that maintains a charge when you leave the battery on the charger..

Whatta think?

Re: New Battery Charger

Sorry for asking, but is that LCD real or just a mockup? It just looks fake.

Otherwise, that's awsome! How much?

Re: New Battery Charger

really? how does it look fake? I took the photo myself.

maybe because the last two bars where flashing because it was charging?

Anyways, dont know about price yet, just checking to see if its worth me bringing in.

Re: New Battery Charger

hey, ive got bamboo mats just like that.. as for the charger, its nice to have a meter more precise than the dvx battery indicator to see how much charge is left on a batt, but im not sure id really ever use it. i pretty much just put a batt on a charger and take it off next time im by it and notice the charge light is off. of course i do this cause i have no other choice, but rarely would i take one off when its only half charged,so im really not sure the readout is neccessary for my uses, but it is nice to have. price would be a big deciding factor. there are days when i could use an extra charger just to get a couple batts charged at once, when they are down, and i need to get some shooting done on a short notice. it looks like nice, and has the readout to boot. how long does it take to charge? is it fast ..slow. about the same as the standard ? that "a" level of charge must stand for "advanced" :) who knows.."apex".."already charged" .. "avon calling.."

Re: New Battery Charger

I guess it looked fake because the power level bars on the LCD are so dark and sharp that they look a lot like product mockups like the VCRs you see in furniture stores :)

But I must have been comparing the image to matrix LCD, whereas the LCD used here is not.  At any rate, as long as it's a good/reliable charger at a decent price, I would get one.

Re: New Battery Charger

lol.. Yeah sometimes though if your shooting and have a few batteries going its nice to see how much juice is in the battery, and how long it has left. The A mode is a trickle state.. so if you leave the battery on the charger it automaticlly keeps the cell at the top of the charge.

Re: New Battery Charger

depending on how accurate the lcd is, this could be great, i worked on a reality show with 3 dvx's and the cam asst lost track of charged batteries and this would of been helpfull. now if they produce it with dual chargers i would buy one.

Re: New Battery Charger

it would depend on price, but i am just about to start shooting something and i'm worry a little bit about only having one charger as i'd like to know that i can recharge all of my batteries each night...

with two chargers that would be a lot easier. the meter would be a bonus.

it would be better if it was like a sony charger i have that will alternate between telling you how much time is left till the battery is fully charged, and how much of a charge (in minutes) the battery has in it currently)

i'm not sure if some of that is just part of the Infolithium(t) thingie.

Re: New Battery Charger

Its pretty accurate.. Im testing it right now.. I dont know if its a go though... you need to unplug it after you change batteries to "reset" it.. thats just lame.

Re: New Battery Charger

yeah, I would rather convince them to make a dual charger, but, for me to do so I gotta order 10,000 of them and pay a $1000 tooling charge... not really worth it because I like selling stuff for cost to help all my members out.
