I will be interested in this bag (I'm a bit of a bag/case nut.) And while I do own a cinebags production as one of my AC bags...I have to say, like most ACs I know, they are not our favorite bags. I much prefer Modular51...but I doubt they will make anything like this product.

My interest lies because I find cinebags products tend to not hold up in the long run. I've seen them literally falling apart at the seams from one feature film. Mine has held up, but I also baby all my gear. I do eventually want a bag I can just not worry about. My cinebags airvan/water bottle holder on my belt...they thing is trash, thankfully got it at cinegear for cheap...but it started falling apart after one 3 day commercial.

I have other small issues with them, such as the velcro they use being WAY to strong for a bag you want to be able to flip open and work quickly out off, or long ends of strings or fabric from the factory...

Like I said, we'll see what this has to offer. I generally like what Kata or Petrol comes out with for softbags.

wow i have had a complete different experience.. I have had the last few models of the production bag and I beat the hell out of the thing.. and use it as a chair on set.. they have lasted me through Features shot in the crappy rainy woods in Vancouver, been through checkin and one was even pissed on by a dog.. and they still keep ticking. Velcro was pretty strong at first.. but after 4 years they get to a very quick draw..

LOL...everyone has a different experience. I don't hate my cinebag...I would have replaced it by now if I did. It goes out on everyshow with me. I know an AC whose beloved Harrison AC bag was pissed on by a dog, and he still takes it everywhere.

But...my next bag will be a Modular51 (www.modular51.com) Assisants Bag...its just superior with a metal tray for an extension eye, and customizable dividers etc...and its VERY durable.

I'm sure I will buy Cinebags products again...I'm hoping they come out with a Mattebox/hanging bag for magliners/yeager carts....like the old Porta Brace bag that they dont make anymore. I also like their smaller production bag as an AKS overflow bag.

Funny thing...I dont know who manufacters their bags, of if they liscense the design. But I went to B&H in Oct 04 and saw that exact same mini-bag under a different manufacturer's name...and then it was released by cinebags last year.

ha ha ha.. yeah i know about the modular bags.. they kinda stole the style from Colin in Vancouver where i used to live and work. They are good bags, but just look so damn blah..

Yeah, I know the original bags of which you speak.

But I LOVE working out of them...very quick and easy to organize....Its basically the one bag I've worked out of that DIDN'T get totally thrashed and unorganized by the end of the day..and to me that is huge.

Sure its not flashy...but it fits on a cart, or stays unobtrusive when it has to be brought to set.

Like I said I'm a case nut...I have a shelf full of cases (Pelican, Kata, Lowe Pro, Cinebag, Harrison.......) Most of them all have uses...some of them no longer have use and I just keep hoping a new pops up...or I keep looking for excuses to get new ones....

Its a really weird thing to get excited about...but I like cases....good inovation in them really makes me happy.

Its going to be announced at NAB, and i expect it to be around the $169 mark.. but i could be totally wrong.

Is there an interior shot somewhere?

I'm sad. I just brought home my new Cinebeags CB-01. It looks so tiny next to the old ones. And the HVX doesn't really fit. I mean it does fit without some of the pockets, but you can't then put that much in there with it. And the cleranc e from the top of the HVX to the cover is pretty small, which means I don't feel good about stacking it like I can the old ones...

WHY MARKUS, WHY? BRING BACK THE OLD ONES!

I know.. right now my old baby is my HVX bag.. it just wont fit the HVX with rails and mattebox in the new ones. But I do have 2 of the smaller ones, that hold all my other crap.

I'm torn about doing that - much of my work is in low light so the DVX will continue to be my workhorse and needs to be in the bag with the preamps and mics and cables and such. And... it's been the DVX's home for years now!

hmmm..... this bag looks pretty much like the Burton Zoom bag...i think the Kata bags (102/103) are the best packpacks for a dvx/hvx...my personal opinion

I got a Porta Brace one and its great. It fits my 17" laptop, HVX, P2 store, a Jacket and some more. Heavy as heck, but great. (I don't know if its good to carry to plane cabin, tough (huge!). You can, however, unatatch the laptop bag and turn it into a portable laptop case.

Cinebags are nice, just like Porta-Brace, Kata and Petrol, they are professional level bags for professionals. However, they all have two problems... price and.. all scream SOMETHING VALUABLE INSIDE.

For travel and staying "low-pro", I prefer the Lowepro. On the professional side, nothing I've ever owed has been more durable than a Tamrac, they also make low-profile gear. I've known many people to have the equipment stolen because thieves see that porta-brace blue and grab. If most of your shooting is sound stage any bag will do.

I got a full size Tamrac camcorder bag (close out) under $200 and it's airline overhead size approved. Perfectly rectangle and green, looks like a soft sided cooler. No one suspects 150K worth of cameras and glass.

I.

Of course this bag comes out and I just bought a lowelpro bag... but I absolutely love it. Fits pretty much most of my camera gack.. including the p2store and my laptop and harddrive. I do also like that it looks like I'm going camping or that Im a bum/dork.

I think that the hardshell backpacks are sweet too but for 300 bucks a little pricey.... I'm still a case nut though as I bought a stormcase, kata varibag, and now the backpack. Each case has it's solutions and uses...

does anyone have the kata r-103 for their dvx and has tried it out with an hvx?

i like the size of the r series' better than all the others but on kata's site it says it only fits the dvx not the hvx...i know the hvx is a bit bulkier but i can't imagine it being that much of a diff.
