new 4K m4/3rd Panasonic LX100

Remarkable image for the price. From what we've seen I'd say it's close (in good light) to the C100, maybe 1-2 stops less DR. Very keen to see how clean it is at higher isos.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX100 Digital Camera $899

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ1000 Digital Camera $897.99

The only thing the LX100 has over the FZ1000 is the smaller size…..

If the FZ1000 is $897.99 - the LX100 should really cost in the $600 range…...

The LX100 has a larger sensor and therefore likely somewhat better dynamic range and low-light performance.

Panasonic drives me nuts……

I need a headphone jack…..

I know this LX100 does not even have a mic jack.

This would be OK for B-roll.

I am using Sony's RX10 and love it.

Mic jack, headphone jack, Built in ND….

I guess we will wait and see if Sony comes out with answers
to the LX100 and FZ1000.

I am liking the Panasonic HC-X1000 but most of my shoots
have been 2 camera lately.

I keep renting another RX10 and I may have to buy another one
unless something else steps up here….

Anyone want to sell their RX10?????

The FX goes long very well.

Thge LX goes wide very well (it seems), and fast.

They're very different, above all because of the built in lenses. Together they may be the best 1-2 punch available for the money.

So much of that video looks over-sharpened to me. But yes, the LX100 is not that far away from the GH4... (in price as well). The GH4 is not exactly expensive imho.

To me, from the perspective of using a camera to make money with, a camera that costs $900 is not that far away from a camera that costs $1,600. Although the LX100 does come with a lens.

To get something similar out of the GH4 you'd be looking at 2-3 times the size, weight and price, but the image seems very close. If it was between the LX100 and a GH4 for stealing shots and as a travel cam, I'd choose the LX100 (barring unforseen problems). Those EOSHD shots looked like they'd post-stabilise nicely...it's a small shame though that the lens isn't a little wider.

True. The GH4 will probably have more image controls allowing one to produce more refined video, but if the LX100 codec is strong enough you will probably be able to make up a lot in post. I own an LX7 and it has been a great "little" camera. If the LX100 was closer to $500 I might consider an upgrade. Personally, I would have liked a 1" sensor, a little more zoom range and a body the same size of the LX7. Basically an LX8, not a m4/3rds contender. If I want a m4/3rds camera the GH4 is there but it is not a small-role camera. This is a video perspective but the real design is for stills and making the best travel cam, which it checks a lot of boxes.

New Year's Eve/Day in Sao Miguel. It's one of the Islands of the Azores which is part of Portugal.
Here's part 1 that shows a lot of the stuff happening before midnight.

Now here's part 2 that shows the main fireworks event.

Part 3 will have to be uploaded some other time. The settings of what I used can be found in the description area of part 1.
I also shot a ton of scenery footage and will post it here once I get back to the US. I'll be back mid January.

I read somewhere that the LX100 has a recording limit of 29 minutes per clip. Can anyone here confirm or deny that?

Took some shots around town today in UHD. Plan on using this as a B cam to an FS7. Most of the time it will be mounted either on a slider or a Nebula 4000 gimbal.

I am not an owner (because of the recording time limits) but from what I have read 4k is limited to 15 min. and the rest is limited to 30 min. Don't know why this has to be true in the US market, but whatever...
