new 4K m4/3rd Panasonic LX100

I looked through the manual but found nothing about max record times, so I put mine in record mode and instantly a countdown timer appeared in lower rh corner. For AVCHD it is 29:30, for UHD (24P) it is 10 minutes.

Hi Good Book, I'm interested in your results using the LX100 as a Sony FS7 B cam, keep us posted.
 
Will do, I'm sure at some point I will do some split screen tests. So far the footage from the LX looks very "Panasonic" and would cut well with my old HVX. It will need some color tweaking to match with the FS7, but the resolution is there.

According to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eDEQCb-hm8 4K is limited to 15 minutes on the LX100. Samsung NX1 has similar limits. Panasonic GH4 has time-limit, too "if you buy the GH4 in Europe it has a recording time limit of 29:59 minutes. This is nothing new" (see http://fenchel-janisch.com/panasonic-gh4-review ) Since the Sony AX100 is a video camera, it has no time limit in 4K recording.

Just a quick warning to those who have or are looking at getting an LX100-be careful about screw on filter adapters. I put a 43-46mm adapter on mine for an ND filter, and it jams the lens every time, causing a "Zoom" error code and shutdown.

Basically he haven't painted in many years and so we decided that we should do a video of him painting and see how it goes. Here's the outcome.


Time lapse shots were taken with the Panasonic AC90 and the singing and talking about the painting part were taken with the LX100. Audio was also from the LX100 on board mic.

The basic profiles of the two cameras should be very close to the same. One reason I purchased the LX100 is a side by side I found on Youtube, the pictures looked identical.
