New 4/3rds (not micro) DSLR from Panasonic...the answer to all our problems?

hoping that those small tidbits are updated or improved so I can go back to GH-1 land.
oh please share with us those small tidbits...
I mean for me the only thing is the codec, because I love the battery, the lack of mirror, the colors, the screen, etc...
so is there something else that is negative and I am missing it?

Can it really be that the replacement for the GH1 will not offer video? It seems the GH1 has made a huge hit with those wanting video in a DSLR style body.

I just bought a Panasonic Lumix ZS3 (an extremely popular still/video pocket camera) specifically for it's video features... certainly not for professional use, but for a personal-use pocket camera, it can produce wonderful 720P HD video with a 25-300mm range, including zooming while recording. I'm just waiting to see what the replacement for the GH1 is going to be before jumping on it too. I already have a 5DII and a bunch of L glass for the stills I use in my professional portrait work and the very limited "film making" that I'm preparing to do. I'm hopeful that the next iteration of the GH1 is so good that my 5DII will be just a stills camera for me as my older 5D has been since it came out, what, about three years ago.

What Barry Said.

Video Output and more robust compression.

It could stand to have more extensive tweaking of color profiles, etc, as well.

Fix the fixed patterned noise issues.

I'm good to go. And heck, I didn't even throw ALIASING in that list. Haha.

Video output is a must. If anybody remembers I was quite pissy about the FPN issue and tried my best to work around that on a low budget feature but without the live video out I couldn't really see the problem on a run and gun shoot till after. The same holds true for a couple of soft focus issues due to a wonderful shallow DOF with adaptable lenses. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this camera. I finally have a 2 1/2 hour feature shot and the only shortcoming I truly wish could be fixed is live monitoring out(and how to shave 40 min in editing :) ). That would help in assuring it's other shortcomings can be seen and addressed while during the shoot. Again, love this camera.

Nice, Nighthawk. When so we get to hear more about your feature? Shooting drama or?

Thanks for your interest, Kholi. Early new year I'll have enough of a rough cut done and a trailer posted. Narrative drama.
Actual cost around 5K and about 20 years off my life span. Everything else on a deferred basis except the years.

It's only a rumor ... worth as much as the paper it's not printed on. :-)

"... Panasonic: ... 3) I expect a new MFT camera in February-March and it will probably be the GH1 successor. The camera will of course have a far better video quality (24Mb/s compression instead of the actual 17Mb/s). ..."

"... 5) What should we expect from Panasonic on Photokina? Maybe the ultimate Digital Still and Motion Camera? Something new for the professionist? If you look at the Panasonic history, they started with making real good compact cameras and they had huge success. Then we saw their MFT cameras and they also had huge success. That’s why I expect Panasonic to join the very High-End professional market with a… why not….Fullframe camera? I expect they will do it in 2011 but why not hope for such an announcement on Photokina this year? ..."

If someone would make the people at Panasonic realize that they only have to make some adjustments to the GH1 spec and it will be a camera to beat Canon, Nikon and even RED to some users on a budget.
