New 35mm adapter

Jim - will you be considering the logo I sent you earlier. Don't think I ever sent it in as an "official" entry for the logo-contest...

I'm going to be recommending the 1150, and the Pro and HD will ship with them included free. I'll be offering them as an additional cost with the Go35SD, with the foam, for $25.

I lug the Pro beta around in an 1150 already -- and it's GREAT :)

there seems to be some kind of logo on the new footage.

Indeed there does! Courtesy of Min Lee, this is the final logo that will be going on the new webpage, the boxes, carrying cases, etc.

I'll post the logo stuff soon -- I just want to solidify some trademark issues.

Jim,

How hard is it to clean your pro glass?
If a speck of dust gets on it, is it over or can air in a can clean it?
When the glass is available, do you suggest any condeser's for it?

Well, if you're building your own with my glass, condensors are entirely up to you. I think with a proper build you can get away without them -- you just need to place the GG at the proper distance from the achromat (further away is better, to a point).

You clean it just like you'd clean a UV filter -- compressed air, lens cloth or tissue, and a good lens cleaner if necessary.

Condensors are the reverse of a macro, basically -- they condense incoming light to a finer point, making the image evenly bright across a given diameter, with a sharper fall-off at the edges.

man the second i think i have these adapters figured out, more issues come up. nowthere are these achromatic diopters which can replace the +10 asian macro lens that gives ya that color aberation around edge and highlights. then this so called condenser, the only way i know that word is from sound and recording. condenser mics are great for voice and overhead recording but what does it mean in camera terms?

man, i dunno if i just want to keep things simple, pick up one of your 209 gigs, and in the future if i want to explore it, i can do so with the parts provided by with your go35. :) if i ever feel impulsive and stuff.

but now its a question of lenses. i gotta find lenses.

and now im finding out that the Fstop the lens comes iwth is what effects the depth of field, and not the mm of the lens?

Well, technically you could use paired condensors to shorten the length of your adapter and eliminate hotspotting. This assumes hotspotting is an issue for your setup -- but with the proper power achromat and distance from the achromat to the GG, you shouldn't have hotspotting, or vignetting. So, I think with a good achromat, condensors are unnecessary.

So the next question is: where can you get an appropriately high powered 58mm achromat (+10 and up) that doesn't cost you an arm and a leg like buying Century Optics would ($209 - 418 depending...)

what would you recommend in terms of a low cost rail system for your adapter?

im definately going to want to string this thing on my glidecam 2000. but since it holds only up to 5 pounds, ill have to extend the length of the shaft and perhaps add a few more weights at the bottom.
