New 35mm adapter

Thank you! And, thanks DJ Lewis...

OK... bit of a change in plans...

Since the market seems to be heating up quite a bit, and the cost of initial startup with the Go35 Pro is a little steep, I've decided to scrap plans for the Pro and instead just concentrate on making two adapters: Go35 Standard and Go35 HD.

The good news is the cost of the HD can come down a little, closer to the original Pro costs. The bad news is, well, there really isn't any. Production to release time for the HD will stay the same or decrease a little -- figure two to three weeks after the Standard is out (April 17th). Anyone buying a Go35 Standard now or in the near future will get a discount on their HD upgrade.

Dennis Wood is doing an excellent job with his Brevis adapter and my hope is to do something similarly well crafted and thought out with the Go35HD -- all internal power source and movement charged with an external device.

After looking over the particulars, it just didn't make any sense to figure there'd be a market for a ~$600 static adapter that wouldn't work on an HD camera when for $650-750 you have a few competitive choices that work across all cams. The cost of creating a near grainless static screen of a consistent quality is at a minimum $4,000 for just the materials and machine. That's a new DVX!

I've got more Standard footage rendering right now and will have it posted later today. I'm now sifting through parts suppliers for the HD and hope to be able to bring it to market in short order.

Jim that's great f*cking news. I'm glad to hear it and the streamlining sounds like a good plan.

Can't wait to see it.

Details forthcoming, fool!

j/k -- just making a Mr. T reference there. Have you seen "Chapelle's Block Party" yet? There's a good bit of Mr. T in it (sorta...)

This link should work, but I'm getting an error. Give it a whirl.

Ergh. Oh well... file's not rendering -- I'll overwrite it and it should work in about an hour. Check it for footage at about 2:40pm Eastern/US.

Awww No but I REALLY wanted too. Friday me and my girl ended up going see Brokeback Mountain. There was no BLOCK party but there sure was......nevermind....I won't even go there....

You and me both. I think a month after I moved to L.A. he passed away so I never got a chance to see him but I have his CDs and DVDs in heavy rotation! Which joke of his do you like best? Mine's probably the "Waving at strangers" or "Fritos with grill marks."

I can't wait to see the HD Jim. I don't know if this has been asked already but are you going to have any dvx footage with the standard up anytime soon?

DVX footage with the Go35 Standard -- I'll get that arranged soon. Worse case scenario, when the parts arrive I'll bang out a few and lend them to a few people who've already asked to beta test.

re: Mitch -- I think my favorite would have to be "pieces of sponge that would easily melt over tortilla chips..." or, "I'm going to shower and shave: does anyone need to use the bathroom? It's like some kind of f'd up quiz where he already tells you the answer..." He and Dave Attell keep me laughing.

re: Testers. I'm going to say for now it's all filled up. I've gotten about 10 people with different cams asking for one and I wish I had the parts to deliver...

Please, to people following this thread -- I've got my email in my sig now and it's on the site as the Contact button. Drop me a line there if you have questions or comments as the PM box here fills quickly...

I'm going to be delivering a pretty major site update with the help of some generous souls here. I hope to do the FAQ at the same time. Sorry I haven't worked it out sooner but there are just too many unknowns currently (no parts in hand) and so I'm kind of in limbo about several of the questions I expect you to have...

No offense helloworld, but I kind of doubt you needed to bump this thread. :D Call me crazy, but I think just a FEW people are following this thread. Just a few, could be wrong...
