New 30-second commercial for a radio station

I just did a 30-second spot for a local rock radio station. They wanted a imaging spot that showed a good cross section of their listeners (young, old, men, women, families, etc.)

I was limited to Premiere 6.5 (no after-effects to jazz the transitions up), but the client wanted "bling-bling" in the in the spot.

What do you guys think?

Cute. I'd say you met your client's expectations.

Although (sorry), the girl dancing in the very beginning set me up for a different type of commercial. I kept going back to her to see if she was kidding, an employee... etc.

I like the fact that it sets up the radio station, with the van and all... but for some reason, I thought you were going to take me down a different path -- almost camp.

Sorry for the hit. You're probably done and I just called your baby ugly. Didn't really mean to.

Hey, no offence taken. I'm need people to be critical. The beginning was hard to fill... we could have come from the car-driving scene, like at the end, into the spot, but the client wanted to include some funky shot of their "girl crew"

I only had a week to shoot, edit, and deliver (not to mention make the changes the client brings "wouldn't it be cool if we could...") on top of the other projects I'm fighting deadline on.

If I had more time, I would have done a better intro... something punchier.

It's got enough bling, in my opinion.

What, were you handing out caffeine tabs to people before they went on camera?

:)

its a shame you were limited. repitition with transitions can seem amatuerish. I have a commercial business here in the south so if your ever interested or need help through getting better software let me know. I like the voice and the interview setup very personal.

I think it's way too much talking and not enough music. At the end when the Who song and the voice over occurs the excitement level and the believablilty level goes up like a thousand percent.

I also think no one is going to be seriously reading that ticker while watching the interviewees.

The quality is good, looks like news footage, but i'm not getting a ROCK vibe from it at all, really. I guess they have the liberty/rights to use songs they play in their commercial? A rare opportunity compared to most canned commerical music choices! Why squander it?

Totally disagree! It had a good rock feel to it. Nice work!

I liked it , great fun . . . hey is your voice over available for stuff, I loved his tone of voice!

Thanks for the comments. I was able to use The Who (and any other commercial artist for that matter) as per copyright agreements between radio stations and record labels. In commercials promoting the station (not promoting contests or other stuff) we can use up to 8-seconds without paying royalties or having to have artists/publishing clearance (this came from the client, who signed off all legal rights to use music on my contract).

As for the voiceover, it's David Kay www.davidkaye.com who does a lot of imaging for radio stations across North America.

As for the ticker... it was done to show the variety of artists played on the station. I'm on the fence with it... but again, if you want to get paid in this industry, you have to please the client. Paying the bills isn't always about creating art.

Good spot- I'm sure the station loved it. You covered all the bases; caught our attention out of the chute and had a good blend of testimonials. As for varying transitions... absolutely not. Yours fit the tone of the spot and any variation would have detracted from the standpoint of continuity. Oh, and your pacing was excellent.

I particularly liked your tag out. The visual of static to black. Did you produce that or is it their standard tag?

Would I buy it? Yes I would.

Nice work.
