F55: new 240p footage from F55

That's a great use of slo-mo to introduce suspense/anticipation and introspection. It shows off the F55 nicely.

I'm curious as to your thoughts on the F55 240fps 2K RAW slow motion shown in the video. To me, it looks great.

But on the FS700 forum, people keep talking about how the FS700 240fps 2K RAW is going to be aliased because of the way it's down sampled from 4K (Possible line-skipping). From what I understand, the FS700, F5 and F55 will down res the 2K RAW from the 4K RAW exactly the same way. If so, why does the F55 240fps 2K RAW film above; and the FS700 240fps 2K RAW, both look so good to me. The video below was shot on the FS700 mostly using 2K RAW. It looks fantastic IMO.

^ well have the people in the FS700 section actually posted any samples to show otherwise? Wouldn't it be pretty simple to do a test and shoot the same scene in both 2k and 4k RAW and then compare?

I'm sure someone has done it, I just haven't spent anytime worry about it. I didn't get the F55 so I can shoot 2k :)

PS. Both those clips look great! Not sure who could ask for anything more.

When I tested the FS700 with the R5 recorder, it did seem to me that shooting identical scene in 4K and 2K resulted in a slight softening of the 2K image. Due to user error (or user stupidity), I deleted the footage.

Your 2K footage even in Vimeo compression looks amazing so I really wouldn't worry about the differences.

The resolution difference is most obvious when shooting resolution charts, naturally. The example short here had nothing in it that would really show any issues, the shallow DOF and subject matter wouldn't really show any problems. Generally that's probably the universal case.

If you shoot high contrast lines, architecture etc. then it would be more apparent. The 240fps mode at 1080 on the 700 shows similar losses. I would guess that fine high contrast lines at 240 would show up quite clearly. But of course if someone is moaning about that then you've kind of lost your audience already :)

cheers
