Hey all, with the limited selection of E Mount lenses, i was excited to find this on Sony's website...

Anyone know much about this upcoming lens, set to release a couple of weeks after the FS700? I'm really hoping to get the SEL 50mm f1.8, and a zoom lens to start off. If this new SEL18200LE turns out well, i'd feel kind of set for a while with two E Mount lenses and not even have to buy an adapter of some sort. And if Image Stabilization and Auto Focus both work in the FS700 with it, that'd be so great.

Is this lens a f/3.5-5.6 or f/3.5-6.3 as show on the images in the link you provided

Near as I can tell, this lens is still f/6.3 on the long end, same as the silver lens but is 2 oz lighter, and a bit more plastic. Think I'd go with the original.

UPDATE: DO NOT CLICK ON THE SONY LINK! I HAVE BEEN INUNDATED WITH DOZENS OF SONY ADS POPPING UP ON ALL BROWSER PAGES SINCE READING THE LINK!

I think that lens is just Tamron 18-200 that Sony is rebadging it under Sony brand. It's a slightly smaller and lighter, so people who own Nex-5n and Nex-F3 still camera might prefer it over the the other 18-200 that comes as a kit with FS100.

I don't think there is anything special about that lens.

Is it also telescoping while zooming? If so, the only advantage over the kit lens is the color (black has always meant "pro", and silver - consumer class of Sony products).

Tamron belongs to sony . I did not know it, untill now .Tamron can not offer any thing more that sony does .
