NEVER CLEANED HEADS?

I need some comfort here please!

My DVX100A has 240 hours and was reportedly never given a head cleaning job.

I suppose it's important to due it now, but is there reason to believe any "damage" would have been done?

Is there possibility of loss in quality/ resolution with heads not having been cleaned?

thank you!

Re: NEVER CLEANED HEADS?

You'd not notice any resolution loss, because it's a digital recording system. What you might notice, if the heads do in fact need cleaning, is dropouts in your footage (a frame or so with "block" artifacts, or perhaps "bars" cutting into the scene).

If you aren't having any problems, your heads are fine - if it ain't broke, don't fix it :D

Re: NEVER CLEANED HEADS?

I have 236 hours on my DVX heads and I have never actually cleaned the heads. I ran the cleaning tape once, just because one of my tapes was used in a deck that wasn't mine. I then went to record more on that tape, and cleaned the heads with the cleaning tape right after. Never had a bad drop out, have had two "pixel" dropouts, but that's about it.

Don't take any risk with your camera... keep it clean inside and out.. it's like your baby! :)
