Netflix Instant Watch: What are you watching?

Just started watching Pulp Fiction last night. About 45 minutes in, great so far. The plot is basic, but the dialogue and acting make it intriguing.

(mind explodes.........) never seen it before?

Also, Just rewatched "The Crow". Love that movie. That was middle school for me..... encapsulated, the music, the black clothes, the girl in the back of the class that painter her face white, with black lipstick..... ahh memories

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimension!

Who else has a fondness for this daffy bit of bizzaro 80's cinema? How can you not like a movie about a physicist/neurosurgeon/daredevil/samurai/rock-star! The Frankenstein of a plot is about a race of aliens form Planet 10 who escaped from their multi-dimensional prison and are trying to get back home. It's up to Buckaroo to stop them, or the alien overlords from Planet 10 will annihilate the earth. Sounds like the greatest movie ever, right? It stars Peter Weller, Ellen Barkin (at her absolute hottest), and a veritable who's who of 80's character actors--

Jeff Goldblum
Clancy Brown
Christopher Lloyd
Vincent Schiavelli
John Ashton
Lewis Smith
Pepe Serna
Yakov Smirnoff

and of course, the cherry on the cheese sundae, John Lithgow in an inspired bit of Italian/Alien lunacy as the evil Dr. Lizardo. Caught it on Netflix in HD last night, a surprisingly good transfer. I must have watched this film 20 times on VHS when I was a kid as I remembered almost every single part of it. I'm not going to lie and say this is a great film, but it's the very definition of a cult movie. I'm still waiting on Buckaroo Banzai VS. The World Crime League.

Isn't one of the aliens named John Big-a-booty? Yes, this movie is a classic to all geeks who were there for the 80s. Love it.

this is not on watch instantly BTW

It is in Canada.

What !?! My apologies. Quite a few times I've looked up films from earlier in this thread to find they are not available. Learned something new and now feeling ripped off. Lol.

On a different tangent:

While looking up Tokyo Zombie which was mentioned earlier I noticed a certain Japanese cinematic masterpiece is now on netflix instant watch.

If you are into camera work, lighting and cinematography Seijun is a grandmaster. Watch this film on netflix instant!

Just watched Anvil the Story of Anvil. Great.

Also been on a Sorkin kick with Studio 60, Sports Night, and The American President

Also been watching a lot of comedy, Daniel Tosh, Steven Wright. Actually seeing Steven Wright made miss K Billy and then like magic I see Reservoir Dogs is new to streaming along with a few other Tarantino tiles. So that's up next

Believe me Canada is getting the short end of the stick. The selection here mostly sucks. There are ways to access the US server from here, but then I'd have to pay for another US account, and a virtual private network. I did a trial for a week and the US selection is way better, it's just most of it isn't in HD, and my AppleTV is hooked into my projector. SD streams look crappy on my big screen so I couldn't justify the expense.

I'm watching a ton of docs now. Lot of docs about the Atom Bomb, as I'm brainstorming a project around that. Also just watched the Joan Rivers doc, which is really great.

I was on a mockumentary kick a few weeks back. Give Death of a President and Confederate States of America a try. I really, really liked I'm Still Here--the Casey Affleck directed mockumentary documenting Joaquin Phoenix's prank rap career.

If you haven't seen it already, you might want to check out "Interview with the Assassin."

Another unusual one from my eclectic taste in films. I was lucky enough to catch this one on the big screen many decades ago
but its not everyone's cup of tea. Costumes by Gaultier, score by Michael Nyman. Cinematography reads like a renaissance painting.
Originally rated X then edited to make it R so you better have a strong stomach.

Peter Greenaway's The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover is on instant watch.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and her Lover is amazing. For mockumentaries, I am about to watch "Interview with the Assassin".

Just watched BLACK DEATH on instant watch. Surprised me in that it was much better than I expected it to be.

Currently watching SHADOWS AND LIES which is superb.

I've been searching for a television series to replace the void created by finishing Party Down. I was actually getting kind of depressed there for a day or two because I'm convinced I'll never come across anything as funny and relatable as that show; truth be told, I kinda wish I never watched it because now my expectations are crazy high. I tried giving some Netflix suggestions a chance and watched the first episode of Dog Bites Man. Pretty funny stuff, but Netflix pulled it for some reason. I really wish they had Upright Citizen's Brigade on there.

Speaking of which, the Belgian mockumentary Man Bites Dog is a brilliant and not very well known film. Worth tracking down.

Finally watched The Ten written by Ken Marino and David Wain (both from The State) and directed by David Wain. It stars Paul Rudd, Jessica Alba, Winona Ryder, Famke Janssen, Gretchon Mol, Oliver Platt, Liev Shreiber, Janeane Garofalo, Rashida Jones, Jon Hamm, and a bunch of people from The State like Michael Showalter, David Wain, Ken Marino, Joe Lo Truglio, Kevin Allison, and Michael Ian Black. It's definitely the most bizarre and surreal thing I've seen in a while, but it's also hilarious. I can't believe anyone signed off on it to be made.
