NEED WEATHER HELP

I WILL BE WORKING OUTSIDE TODAY, AND IT WILL BE 17 DEGREES OUT. WITH SNOW BLOWING AROUND. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO KEEP MY DVX WARM AND PROTECTED.

Re: NEED WEATHER HELP

The cold isn't really a problem. I shoot at 5 degrees and there is not problem. But when you'll return inside, don't touch the dvx for about 30minnutes because of the condensation. For the snow, you can buy an housing but it seems it's to late so maybe try to build one.

Re: NEED WEATHER HELP

yep 17 degrees is nothing. I've been out when it was below zero and the DVX was fine. When the tripod was freezing up the DVX kept chugging away.

Re: NEED WEATHER HELP

If you have a soft case, or any case for that matter, let it sit inside of that for a good 15 minutes in the cold so that your lense won't fog up when you take it out, and do the same when bringing it back in, just let it sit. As far as protection goes, I have seen people use those padded moving blankets to throw over the camera to keep it dry and warm, but I usually just use a trash bag and tear a hole for the lense, throw some gaff tape in key locations, and use some rubber bands to secure the loose bag and you're good. Dont even think about using the on camera mike however if this is the approach you choose....all you'll hear is "crack crunch crack crackle crackle"

Re: NEED WEATHER HELP

Thank you all for your help, The day went well. We shot a car commercial, and the footage of the car in the snow looks amazing. My DVX is working just fine, and no I am relaxing. Thanks again. I will post some grabs once I render them!!
