I shot some stuff in 24P- forgot to UNCHECK "remove pulldown" option in the P2 log and transfer window, I was wondering why my footage was so choppy. No problem, I figured i would just re-import with the right settings in the log and transfer window (when I got a chance of course) Well, because I am a dumb ass, i forgot about it and went on to another project, formatted my cards and am stuck with choppy stuff for a big $ client who will not be thrilled with a re-shoot as it puts us way behind schedule. So, is there any way on God's green earth that I can somehow salvage this footage? It is 24P 960X720 23.98 DVCPRO HD 720P 60 compressor. I am really embarrassed from this idiot mistake and any help is appreciated! Thank you guys and gals!

The .mov files are now 23.98, meaning the frames it would have removed are now totally gone?

No, there's very likely nothing you can do. The frames you need are just plain gone. You might be able to convert back to 60p and apply some kind of motion blur or something, but you're not going to get the footage back the way it was originally.

Two lessons here:

1) If you want 24p in 720 and aren't streaming out through firewire, shoot 24pN. No pulldown to remove. No problems.

2) Always, always, always archive your original MXF files.

Thanks, David, I know, I know, I ALWAYS (except this time) shoot 24PN- and I will do the whole MXF thing as a matter of habit from here on-such a rookie move on my part but hey.... The good news is that the static shots are fine, so i can most likely still produce something nice...

You can try to do a telecine in Cinema Tools, but the frame cadence is probably too wrong for it. Wouldn't hurt to give it a shot, but I wouldn't expect it to work. The frames you have are obviously in the wrong pattern.

It's possible that you might be able to extract a frame sequence manually, because there's a chance that all of your frames are there, but just in the wrong order. That, too, is a longshot, and tons of manual work, but it might be possible. Again, you've probably lost data that you need, so these are kind of Hail Mary attempts. But sometimes that works, and at this point, you probably don't have anything to lose by trying, right?
