i know that you can shoot footage to a card and then transfer this to tape using the camera to do it. however, i shot an intervalometer shot with a card and then tried to transfer this to tape with the camera and i was unsuccessful.

basically i need to shoot on sd for my client. we need to do a time lapse shot. however, the dvx100a only allows for one frame to be taken every 15 seconds. do i have that right? and the sony pd170 only allows for on frame every 30 secs. the hvx200 seemed to be the answer to my problem by giving me great control and the ability to convert to SD. at this point any and all suggestions are welcome.

If you shot SD to the P2 card, then you can't use the in-camera transfer to tape function. You have to shoot in HD in order to be able to downconvert and transfer to tape.

If you shot DV, you could dub to tape, firewire to firewire from the HVX into a tape camera like the DVX or PD170.

Or, you could capture the footage into a computer and then export it back out as a DV stream and capture that on the HVX's tape drive.
