so last year i fell with my camera in my backpack, the zoom ring and everything after cracked off. it was a the result of just a small crack in some plastic holding a screw. everything else was actually fine, but the focus ring wasn't working.

because of the fall the wire connecting the focus ring split, but everything else worked... i even managed to re-attach everything except the focus ring, zoom ring, ect would come off like a bayonet because it was a bayonet holding everything in, but the screw is what keeps it tight.

Now i sent it in to a camera shop, and this asshole wanted me to spend $700 for a whole new lense, and $200 for the focus ring. now i dont need a new lense, there is nothing! wrong with the lense, so this guy who couldn't even speak English was feeding me this crap about sensors in the focus ring, which was attached to the front part of the lense. the sensors he was talking about are back with the CCD's. and the only thing i needed was a new tiny ass piece of plastic and a wire.

but being me, i don't have that money, so i wasn't gonna cooperate with the jerk and have him send it back. now i get it back, he forgets my battery, and the thing is barley intact. the zoom gets jammed and the black hinge covering the eternal parts between the lcd and camera was GONE!!!

so i called the guy and he claimed the now of this was his fault, that i sent it that way, and that its impossible to loose that hinge without taking apart the whole camera HAHA i even know that it comes off like a clip, easily accsessible for 35mm adapters so you can screen flip it.

so this guy never responds to my complaints, or emails. now 3months later, my screen flip stoped working cuz it got infected with dust or something but its because it has NO COVER!!!!

now i think its too late to try and contact this guy and i don't know what to do, i think i have too many problems and its not worth fixing anymore....

im not sure please HELP!!!

oh ya and this guy i sent to is recommended by panasonic, its in NYC.... not B&H but i think B&H sends it to this guy, i forget who or what they're called.

anyway please help!!

Obviously you fixed a DVX before?........ I'd send it back to you still broken just for acting this way. Id say buck up and buy another camera for a few more hundred than what its gonna cost to get fixed.

i never fixed a dvx before or taken it apart, i just know a lot about them. and this guy doesnt or hes just trying to rip me off. i cant trust them, and i dont have the money for a new camera. what i was going to do is sell me dvx and get an hvx. but i dont think i can anymore....

does anyone knoe different shops or something??

that sux i didnot know that. theres a place here in corpus christi tx where i live called accent audio video who fixed my tape compartment probs they did a good job and from what i hear they work on the tv stations equipment here in town. do a search for accent audio video in corpus christi tx on willams street. if you have no luck i can get the number i have their card at home i can get it for you.

:( i think speccomm stopped repairs on the DVX line.

I can't imagine why they wouldn't want to fix DVXes anymore, maybe because Panasonic is discontinuing parts?
<end sarcasim here>

I apologize to all my fellow DVX owners who have had fantastic results and luck with their cameras. I have had fantastic results but not fantastic luck. I know how good the DVX is but when you can't get parts, the camera is useless. I am making it my crusade to help others not get burned by Panasonic like I have been. 9 months of looking for parts and nothing. If anyone has spare time on their hands, a DVX chop shop would be greatly appreciated. I have 7 year old Sony that I can easily get parts for and a 3 year old Panasonic that I can't.

PLEASE DON'T BUY A DVX!!! IF YOU BREAK IT YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!!

IF THIS HAPPENS WITH THE DVX, WHAT WILL HAPPEN WITH THE HVX. DON'T BUY PANASONIC!!!!!!!!
