Need to export to DV and it looks poopy

Shot w/5D Mark 2. Transcoded to ProRes. Edited in a ProRes 30 frame timeline (not 29.97 so I could sync sound from a Zoom H4n). I have tried to use compressor and put clip in a new SD timeline then exported - both look crappy with lots of detail loss and edge lines.

What works the best? I have done this in the past and did not have any trouble. Any thoughts? Any posted best export work flows somewhere?

Thanks for the help.

Two things that could be going wrong:
1) Resizing is not being done properly.
2) Something's happening at the encoding stage.

Try encoding to a different output codec to see if you get the same results. Also try a different resizing method. I'm leaning more toward a codec issue... Maybe you're exporting to interlaced DV, and that's why it looks so bad?

I am resizing using compressor and FCP and both give the same look. I now remember what I did in the past was HDV to DV (with good results), so this is my first attempt with ProRes/5D.

Yeah I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

Footage usually looks soft as hell. I have to go to Virtualdub, resize it in there, then sharpen, then encode to DV. But there must be a better, more professional and streamlined way of doing it in FCP or Premiere??
