Need the Parts diagram for DVX100a

Hi everyone,
Well I busted a part on my DVX. It fell and the Century .7 and the follow focus ring snapped off under the pressure. After a few seconds with a small driver I found and goofy rigged a fix to get me thru ... But now I would like to order the part to replace the one I broke.

I found Panasonic's part ordering page on the net but they don't have a exploped diagram. Hmmm ... is there one around here ? JAN ?

Thanks in Advance,

Steve

What part are you looking for? If it's the focus ring assembly, we have them in stock and can ship you one.

I've been keeping an eye on this thread because I too would love to have a parts diagram to help me know which parts are which.

Is this a company secret which Panasonic prefers not to share?

My camera is currently waiting on a new flip out screen. When we first attempted to order the part, there were three different numbers for the same part. I'm assuming, yes, I know that's dangerous, but this may be due to the same part working for the DVX100, DVX100A and DVX100B.

Then again, I could be wrong...which wouldn't be the first time.

Is there no place for a DVX owner to get a part number identification without paying more money?

note: I am actually a little perturbed with Panasonic because, sadly for me, they are living up to my less than positive opinion of the company when it comes to doing more than simply selling new products.

No matter what brand of camera, repairs and spare parts will be needed. Sony understands this and because of that, has an amazing customer service reputation which has eluded Panasonic for years.

Just how long will it be before Panasonic smartens up and understands they need to do more to keep customers happy? I have currently been waiting three plus weeks for this spare part to be shipped to me. If I was using a Sony camera I would have had the part in my hands, at the very latest, in one week. Usually within three or four working days.

Panasonic makes some fine equipment but when it comes to supporting their products once they leave the showroom floor, they are sadly lacking.

Without trying to come off as a bitter old cameraman...this latest experience with Panasonic is pushing me back into the Sony fold when it comes time to make my next camera purchase.

Funny you should mention that John, I'm also waiting on a part which apparently has to come all the way from Japan, and the estimate is 4-6 weeks. This is the 2nd time in as many months that i've needed to order something, and each time the estimated wait is 4-6 weeks. So say your in the middle of production, and your only camera craps out, what alternatives are u left with? I personally can't afford to lug around a back up camera just in the event that mine dies on me. I agree that it gives a great picture, but its weak( from my experience, seeing as i've had 1800 in repairs done ) and thats in the last 6 months. The support is sub-par, and since when should a rubber eye piece cost $50? Needless to say I'll be upgrading to something a little more durable and reliable for my next project. I depend heavily on my equipment to perform at it's best while i'm working in some pretty harsh environments. John you can relate, good luck finding a service center for your dvx in Nicaragua. If the only tool you have dies while you're in the middle of filming in such a far off place, you might as well pack up and shut down production. I have 2 months left of filming my surf video this summer in Central America and i'll be extremely disappointed if my camera doesn't last but i'm an optimist, so lets hope that my dvx can at least get me through one project.

Hi Tyler!

Surf is starting to kick up again and you won't believe all the change and development in San Juan del Sur when you get back here.

I'm still waiting on Panasonic. Talked to my tech in Miami yesterday. It's been three weeks. Still no part but...still within the four to six week wait for part delivery Panasonic "promotes".

With all of the "official" Panasonic folk who claim to keep an eye on this board, I find it odd not one of them feels the confidence to even respond, at the very least, with a simple "sorry but our company does things differently" or some simple, helpful explanation about where to find this basic information about part diagrams.

I understand people having a "fear" of being flamed but...Jarred and company do a great job of keeping this board civilized and I don't think our questions are out of line. Especially when the question comes from paying customers who have already ponied up the cash to buy one of their cameras.

They are quick to tell us when they are going to include something new like the DVX book or some new editing program as part of the purchase package for an American camera. Why not be helpful with those of us who have purchased the product and wish to keep using it by keeping it in working order?

The lack of response doesn't make a lot of business sense to me.

I really like my little DVX 100a...hopefully...she will be back home again in another couple of weeks. Until then, my old Sony 400 is keeping me in business.
