Hi guys! First of all, let me thank you for such a magnificent job on the hack! I have decided to buy the GH1 instead of 7D because of you so thanks a lot!
However, I'm having some problems with my hacked GH1 and it would be really awesome if you could help me a little. The footage generally looks good but there are two things that make me worried:
1) There's a lot of noise (it's not like typical digital noise, more like a 'rumble' or some kind of strange motion) in the shadow and midtone areas. It wouldn't be strange at - say - 640 ISO or 1250 ISO but it is surprising at 160 and 320...
2) The gradients (light on a wall or just a background that's out of focus) look really really bad
I've uploaded two short clips, unprocessed .mts files straight from the camera to my dropbox. You can download them here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3651190/GH1.zip First clip is at 320 and second at 160.
My settings are:
25fps NATIVE
"C" settings from PTool
GOP 5
I'm shooting at Smooth with everything at -2. I've changed the color mode to Adobe RGB as it was cleaner than sRGB. The uploaded clips are in Adobe RGB.
Any idea what may be wrong?
Best regards,
Tom
