Ok guys, need some expert advice! I have an upcoming shoot in which I have to capture a live speaker. They wish for me to capture him with one camera and they wish for me to capture the computer demostration going on the computer screen. It is some sort of systems training in which capturing the demonstration is direly important. I wish to capture the computer screen the best possible way. Anyone have any ideas on what this would be? Screen capture tools wouldnt be good because of the video lag they typically cause and the manual start and stop which is necessary to use them. Please HELP....

How about getting the computer demonstration elements and add them to the piece later. It'll be tighter and higher quality than trying to shoot a computer screen.

Shoot the speaker as normal.

To capture the demonstration you will need to do so with a utility that is installed on the computer.

In editing you will be able to cut in footage of both.

As to what utility, see what operating system they are using as well as what program. Google around a bit and you will find the solution most suited for your needs. There shouldn't be any lag if set up properly.

Alternatively, you can install a second video card on the demonstration computer if necessary and capture from that or even use try a VNC set up.
Obviously this will need to be worked out and perfected in advance. Give at least a day or two lead time.

All the Best.
