hey guys i am trying to see whether i can get by with ppro2 and an hvx on my laptop. i have a temp ppro2 on it but no hvx yet. can someone send me an uncompressed file straight from the p2 card not captured yet so i can see if myppro2 will capture it or not without a third party like raylight or cineform's.

All data recorded on P2 cards is wrapped in MXF container files, Premiere won't be able to make sense of it without third-party help.
 
like cineforms prospect hd?

so i would need to plug it in then it will have a preset inside premiere for my project?
 
Cineform and Raylight would both let you use the HVX200 footage inside Premiere, but they don't provide any presets -- you'll have to set up the project to match the video yourself.

If you have further questions about the workflow with Premiere, you should post them in the workflow section. Also, I'm not a Premiere user, so this is about as far as I can guide you.
