im interested in getting a new tripod for ex3.....was considering cartoni f 101...does anybody have a better suggestion around same price range? and i need a new transport case for camera also...any ideas on that would be sweet! getting the gear from b&h
I use it with my EX1 naked and with a Letus setup weighing in at 18lbs. It's got lots of controls for adjusting drag and counter balance. After using a mid-level spreader for years, I now prefer the ground-level because of the stability and easier height adjustment.
I'm not familiar with the one you mentioned (which means nothing, I'm not familiar with very many), but here's what I use and I love it. I'm shooting a bare EX1 though. It's rated for around 20 lbs max so I don't know if an EX3 with rails and lens and adapter would be too much for this one.
I also have the Miller DS20 which replaced a litany of unworthy predecessors... It's a great tripod, solid sticks, smooth fluid head, quickly adjustable and very compact. Also, it's pretty light weight and can carry a heavy load... I have the EX1, letus, zacuto rails, matte box, ikan lcd and some other extra weight on there and it hold up... It will occasionally need some counter weight to keep the fluidity depending on the ergonomics and weigh of your rig. Bloom's recommendations are usually right on and this tripod is no exception.
I have a miller ds20 as well and I love it! easy to carry and great to use. Used a vinten vision 10 prior to that now it rarely sees light of day. I use it with EX3 and Letus ultimate.
yeah....think im going with the miller...how about minumum sound...what ..........is good out there......not to cheap...not to expensive....thanks for the advice.....
my experience with the miller dv20 is this: it's an excellent tripod. the ds20 head is average. you would be better off with the cartoni that i'm offering or a sachtler fsb-6 head on the dv20. in my humble opinion that is.
