Need Logo Ideas

Jared I really like those coffee stain ones.
Yeah, they turned out pretty well, I think. Thanks for the compliment!

Jared - while that may not be what Larry is looking for, I just wanted to say I think those are pretty slick. Nice work.

Thank you, sir!

Interesting idea Owen, but not exactly what I'm looking for.
Throw us a bone here, Larry!

Any specifics that you are (or aren't) you looking for in a logo? Might help if we can narrow it down a bit.

Sorry fellas. I'm really not trying to be difficult, but as I mentioned in my initial post I'm still looking for ideas for the logo because I don't currently have any. It was an added bonus that you all responded with actual images.

What I can tell you is this. I want it to consist of the symbol and name together as an entity, but I also want the symbol to be something I can use without the name. I want it to convey a professional image. I'm ok with the symbol being a real object (e.g. the sun) but don't want it to "be" an image (e.g. the calendar) if that makes any sense (if not say so and I'll try to explain it better). I'd like it to be something that is going to look good in full color (e.g. on a website, in a video) but I'd also like it look good in black and white (e.g. business card, fax letterhead). As I mentioned before my favorite color is orange, preferably adark, rich orange, not florescent :) but am open to ideas in other colors.

Thanks for any additional ideas, whether just a description of an idea or an actual image.

Peace,
Larry

Please define the feel you want to go for... do you do spy flicks? LOL! If you do Christian flicks this might be going in the wrong direction.

As I mentioned in the first thread I haven't mentioned the rational behind the name yet because I wanted to see what just the name alone conjured up.

I am a Christian and I definitely want to do faith based stuff, but I don't want to be another faith based cheese fest. Unlike most faith based production companies, I don't believe faith based projects need to be thinly veiled sermons wrapped in weak stories. Rather I just want to tell great stories that draw people in and entertain them. If they learn important lessons from the film or it causes them to think about anything, that should be a product of real life portrayed within the film, not because they just endured having a message crammed down their throat.

That is a very clever idea Matt, but I don't think a gun is how I want to identify the company. But now seeing that image makes me want to create a spy film so I can use that image :)

The name "Day Seven" does refer to the last day of creation. The idea being that is okay to take some time and just rest, even God did. In other words we can take some time to sit back and enjoy the fruit of our labor. This event sets a precedent for taking time away from what you are called to accomplish and just relax.

I like Jared's coffee stain logo's because they look like outlines of planets with the sun or breaking over the horizon. I immediately think of creation when I see them. The only reason I'm not using them is they are too much grunge for my personal taste, if that makes sense. It's not that I don't like them, but that my personal preference is for a cleaner look.

The image Knox created with the sun is more the type of image/symbol I'm looking for...at least at the moment. I am definitely open minded enough to consider anything, but at present that is the look I am leaning towards.

And again, the orginal point of this thread was to help generate ideas as I don't really have any at the moment. So anything you think of I'd like to hear about and/or see.

Thanks again for all the input/ideas so far and for putting up with my not knowing what I really want.

And thanks, in advance, for any additional ideas you might fling my way.

Peace,
Larry

Love the name, Larry. Maybe that's just an indication that I'm overdue for some relaxing time. :)

I don't have any graphic artist skills, so I'm not going to be any help in that area, but I just wanted to say that I really like the rational behind the name.

Good luck with it!

Here some more to throw at the wall and see if they stick. Didn't spend too much time on font but maybe the shapes and symbols will spark some ideas.

Some of these are feeling like Channel 7 Logos:)

The top one reminds of of a BP station but those bottom two are really nice.
I really liked those coffee stain ones also.
Maybe i should have posted here about a logo for myself. heh.

I was just thinking about the coffee stain logos yesterday but I forgot.

I played a demo of a game called "Skate" that EA is releasing for XBox. I was surprised to see the coffee stain logo at the beginning of the game. So I dont know if its a popular font or something but I was amazed at the coincidence.

overland and jeremy - definitely some interesting ideas to think about/play with. I too was thinking "channel 7" before I saw your comment.

All the logos presented so far seem to capture the "idea" well and definitely give me a lot of fodder to think about as I shape and mold my final identity. Thanks for all the input it does help.

It's strange, the name came so easily, I just don't understand why the "identity" is so hard to grasp.
