Need Logo Ideas

I recently changed the name of my production company and am now in the process of trying to come up with a decent logo. Unfortunately, I'm currently stumped for ideas, so I figured I'd take it to my fellow creative's and see if we can get a brainstorming session going.

I can't, at present, pay to have a logo designed, so this thread is just to discuss ideas for the eventual logo. If, however, you are so inclined or can only express your idea by creating it, I will certainly be very grateful :)

The company name is: Day Seven Studios

If you want more information about the thought process behind the name, I can certainly provide that. But I'm curious, at least initially, as to what ideas just the name alone conjures.

Well, I have nothing better to do so I took a crack at some different ideas. Right now they are a little boring but maybe it will get the brain storming juices flowing for further development.

Cleaned it up. With a little bit of symmetry it could go a long way:

Mikko - Good call on the "meaning", but not exactly what I was looking for :)

jeremy - I too reference it as "D7" so that's cool. But I'm not digging any of that first round of ideas. The final one, however, the one in the "rectangular frame" is pretty cool. But I'm looking for something that has a symbol so I can use the symbol with/without the name in print/web/etc. But perhaps this one could be a good secondary image.

Knoxworth - I'm REALLY digging that one. I'm still trying to decide how it will look with just the Sun + "D" without the title with it (as I want to be able to use the symbol from whatever logo I end up with, both with and without the name attached). I don't suppose you can create a large version of that, which I could then size down as needed?

BTW, I didn't mention it, but orange is my favorite color and I really wanted to somehow incorporate it into the final logo. So the coloring of your suggestion is fantastic :thumbsup:

Jared - While I like "grungy", I'm thinking I want something more "professional", if that makes any sense. Although your images aren't showing up, so I can't really say for sure if they work for me or not.

The image should show up this time. But yeah, reading your post above I can tell this isn't close to what you're looking for. Hope it gets some more creative juices flowing, though. Good luck! :thumbsup:

glad you like it. i did this design in photoshop. Give me a couple days to crack open illustrator and see if i have any luck. Youre welcome to the source files.


i too think Jared's spill designs are spectacular. Its cool because they almost look like moons around a planet. double meaning kinda stuff

Jared - definitely some nice logos. They don't fit what I'm looking for, but man they are really good nonetheless. I saved them off cause for a different name they could be fantastic.

BTW, what is the font used in the top two? I really like that font a lot. Did you do those in PS? Any chance I could get the source files, as they could be put to use elsewhere for sure. Thanks

That said, I'm still open to other ideas or variations on these ideas if anyone has them. I want to make sure I have something I'll be happy with for a long time to come.

Nope it wasn't showing up before. It is now though. Cool ideas...thanks. Thanks for the info on the font also.

BTW - Where in the "Wine Country" are you located? I'm in Winters, between Davis and Vacaville (about 30 minutes East of Napa)
 
A calendar theme perhaps? Maybe too dull. I was in line at the bank today... so I guess I stole this idea off the wall. ...and it's quick and dirty photoshop -- complete with an ugly bevel.

Interesting idea Owen, but not exactly what I'm looking for.
