So I just got my green screen...and I tested it out the other night...but I'm having trouble keying it out in both Final Cut and Adobe AE. I'm thinking it might be cuz my screen is too close to my subject...or i just suck at keying. Any suggestions/advice?

the green looks pretty vibrant, you shouldn't have major problems. Try using Adobe After Effects Keylight.

What version of AE are you running? 6.5 professional edition comes with Keylight for free.

Also, if you have the space, keep your subject at least 6 feet away to minimize spill from the green screen. Too much spill can really make keying a pain.

It might be a case of being to close to the screen. I noticed the other day when I had my subject close to my green screen, there was a little bit of the subject misssing when I keyed it, but when I brought them about 5 or 6 feet from the green screen and then focused so that the green screen was out of focus, the keying was waaaaaaay better. Pretty much flawless.

But yeah, I use color range in AE to key since my green screen isn't usually lit even (lack of lights).

it looks as though the screen is lit a bit unevenly. do you have a less directional light, or something to diffuse your current light with? the wrinkles might also be adding to you difficulties. perhaps try ironing the screen (if you can), or stretching it out so it is more taut. i agree that it is a good idea to allow more space between your subject and the screen.

i have AE 7 Pro....no sign of keylight on it. Yeah i didnt do the best job of flattening out the screen. I'm gonna go buy some pvc piping at home depot and make a more effective stand. hopefully that'll work. in the meantime...if anyone has a copy of Keylight they wanna send me... I would be your best internet friend!

Insert your install disc and look around, you should see a whole bunch of folders. One should be keylight, all you have to do is open the folder and install it.

I took your picture and imported it into AE and used keylight. This is what I got from doing a few quick tweaks.

Hey John when are you going to post more videos on your site It hasnt been updated in so long

I'm actually shooting a few skits now that I hope to have out by the beginning of September. I was doing a lot of writing this summer while I was in NY on my internship since all my stuff was down in NC. I'm also working to get a few music videos off the ground. Right now, I'm just working a few odd jobs to get some more equipment so I can stop working around my schools clock. ;)

It'll be up here soon!
