So It's been one of those years and I don't have a lot of cash. getting my girl friend a small gift and this movie on DVD. only one more night to fix. I'm mostly concerned with the edit. There is grain in the added footage that I'm fixing. I recompressed the clips by mistake. Please take a look at this final edit and let me know wether or not I'll get a rolling pin thrown at me...Or not!

Mino,

Very, very nice. I loved the composition of nearly every shot and your color is outstanding. My only nits to pick (because you asked) are two wide shots of gulls swimming in the water. The first is about 2/3's of the way through, just before a cut to three ships in which two have green hulls. The other is a couple shots after that. They just don't seem nearly as interesting as the boat shots -- they lack those splashes of color and the architecture of the vessels. Just my two cents, though. I think your girlfriend will love it.

Sorry mino, can't view the video. I'm bandwidth challenged. Is this the updated version of the grabs you uploaded 2 weeks ago? The boats and the fishheads?

Seriously, I should think that anything like this that you do with your own hands and with such loving detail should be greatfully accepted.

I liked it too! Nice colors, nice compositions, nice editing, nice music.

My only criticism would just be the suggestion to put a little subtle movement into some of the staic shots. Otherwise, this is great eyecandy, in the style of disjecta.

I think the music could be a little more subtle and let the images speak more for themselves. (or at least fade the levels down a bit after the intro). Good cinematography overall.

Thanks for input guys...She loved it. Still stuff neede more motion I agree, I wanted to shoot more footage but the weather and I never snyced. I ended up taking the best stuff I had and going for it. There was no ambient sound because the guy who drove me to the location never stopped talking and the soundtrack was riddled with meaninless gibberish! So unless there is voice over or ambient sound ,I don't get the idea of lowering the music during the film. Maye I'm missing something though :-/

Interesting, but the editing is too disjointed....no flow.
That sound, as mentioned, could use some toning back.
I'd also consider taking out the "staic shots", they seem out of place.

Nice though... ;)

Actually I think the levels are perfect and the fades are great! This piece would make for a great introduction to a movie which involves some of its scenes around boats. The one criticism I have is that it is too long and thus gets boring easily. Don't get me wrong, I love the shots. However, if you cut it in half and us one part as an intro and the other part as an ending scene to a movie, then I think your in business. The music is great, its what sets the whole tone.

Thanks again for the input. I agree with most suggestions and comments. Next time I won't have to rush so much hopefully. I mean that was a two hour shoot and three hours of editing cos I procrastinated right to the end. One of the gulls was giving ne real grief so there's a spot for you in the next one Spider ;D

Well let's see ,even at union minimums, plus travel expenses, accident/health coverage, a non negotiable percentage of the gross, non negotiable credit placement and......

I'll need to see your financial breakdown, secured funding, production failure insurance riders, distribution agreements, and your personal life insurance policy (not less than 2 million) clearly indicating me as sole beneficiary.

If you can provide all these plus the shooting script, with storyboards.....

dang! So I guess my 24 dollars and 32 cents won't do it. I can get you a sandwitch at Subway. Keep it under 5 dollars though. I got my wife & kids I need to feed too.

Aww man...you make me drop what I'm doing and come all the way in here cos my e-mail sound goes off, I think someone wants to air my film on HBO or something, and it's only an attempted hijacking?

The hijack part was all in fun...I've had my 15 minutes ;D I think any thread I start is fair game after it fizzles. Besides we need unused threads every once in a while so we can scribble weird notes to each other. I wouldn't ask the cable company to air this piece. I'm working on a new reality show....I'll submit that. All I need is my DVX, my girlfreind and a telephone, I'll win one million dollars if I get to use the phone once over a two day period, half that amount if it rings and it's for me ;D
