Need help, would Like to Build NLE :)

Ok guys, I'm doing some research on this and saving up at the same time,if I wanted to build a fairly decent HD capable NLE workstation that also could deal with 3D/ CGI/ VFX creation as well.

What kind of price range (modest) can I get a way with, basically absolute minimum.

Please bear in mind I'm thinking of starting off with a base unit PC with XP pre-installed (I can't be bothered with building it myself, lack of time)

Then I want to just add the extras needed.

Now here is what I have in mind:

(1)3GHz Amd (please no Intel v Amd war, I have choosen amd, because thats what I'm use to and it has not let me down thus on that experiance

(2)Two CRT monitors (I know flat LCD are all the rage, they are still kinda expensive relative to their CRT counterpart)

(3) Graphics card, what do I get? ( I would like, HD DVI output) and some 3d cababilities

(4) Cheap but decent NLE keyboard

(5) Hardrive, sata, how many and what size, mainly for MiniDV, maybe HDV and hopefully DVCPROHD (one day :)

(6) Graphics tablet, should I bother? heard its good for rotoscoping work and comp work in Combustion and the AE.

Ok guys If you could point me towards the right direction, I would be most greatful !

Get the graphics tablet. its a learning crve to get used to, but GREAT for rotoscoping. I borrow my friends, sometimes. its great


Im running 3.2 GHtz intel P4, 1 Gig Ram , 256MB Raedoen X600 Graphics card.
Vegas runs like butter. i can even play almost full framerate with many layers and Vfx on a clip. Even Magic bullet runs 2-3 frames per second. ( if you dont have magic bullet usually it runs at 1 Fps.) Renders are fast.

Photoshop is no problem.

After effects runs smooth.

I am totally happy.

Just make sure you find a Windows XP tweaking guide, and turn off all that crappy XP idiot proofing peripheral software. IT eats like 200MB of ram, everytime you start up. and makes all your programs run smoother.
