Need Help ? With dis-aseembling bogen 3030 Head
This may sound like a silly and funny question for the pros. However I need help.
I just bought a used Bogen manfrotto tripod 3221w that came with a 3030 Bogen quick release head

I want to replace the 3030 and I can't figure out how I can remove it?
I would appreciate it if any one you could direct me or if there is website I can go to that has a pdf with pictures for an novice like me

happy holidays

Sorry, can't seem to find anything online. I have a Bogen 501 head so I can't be of much assistance to you. ....But you've got my moral support. :) Try posting in the "hardware" section if you haven't already. Good luck

Pull up the center colum, and look under the head. - Notice the 3 screws?

Lock the Pan on the head. (so it won't spin [pan] freely) Then loosen these 3 screws untill you can unscrew the head from the top of the post (the plate with the 3 screws in it is part of the post.) It might be a little tight, but don't force it too hard. If in doubt undo the screws all the way (thoguh you won't need to - dont' loose them!) and then put them back in right away.

When you put teh new head on the tripod you will need to screw these 3 screws back in to lock it into position so it want' come off.. notice due to 'waves' in the underside of the pan-head that the 3 screws won't ever be level - this is what locks the head.

Yep, thought I was seeing double for a moment. Thanks to the "delete" button everything is back to normal.

How's your holidays going? It must be real cold there.

Oh holidays are going well ..today was my first real day off - no obligations (I was shopping all the way up untill the Christmas) I did nothing today. - Slept in untill about 4pm (and am now paying for that, it's 5am and I'm still not tired..)
Ok, that's not entirly true, I made a couple of 3D station ID's, but that was for fun, not work :)

It's not that cold. A couple of degrees below freezing. We have a few inches of snow on the ground. Just about perfect for a white Christmas actually. - Though a little more snow for skiing would be nice :)

How's Thailand?

It gets a little cool at night here. When riding around on a moped (cruising for chicks) you almost need a jacket. :)

It never feels like Christmas here. Maybe because 95% of the population is Buddhist. :) I went to the local Pizza shop with my other American friend and we listened to Christmas music and had dinner. Ahhhh nothing says "holiday spirit" more than pizza!

5am? Get some rest. Your inner-clock is going to be all screwed up!

You're a techie. You know we all have little clocks inside us that tell us when to sleep and when to wake up. Maybe your inner-clock's battery is dead.

This dvmichelle is going to come back and be surprised she got a lot of responses! Too bad most of them aren't about her problem. :)

Thank you. It took just a minute to follow mikkowilson instructions. I had un-screwed the screw but I had not lcoked the pad head. I was going crazy . Thank you so much.
You rock and hope you pass a pleasant holidays.
Happy new Year

Mikko? What about PK? I helped too! Remember the whole "moral support" thing? You couldn't have locked the head without that!

Geez, no appreciation.

:) :) :)

Michelle,
You are welcome. I was glad I could help. :)

PK,
My RTC (real time clock) died years ago ...somewhere about the time I started school and lost my other ties to Reality too (not necceseraly beacuse of school)

Thanks agin you "ALL". I really appreciate everyone's input.
:) :) :)
I'm now heading to grab a strong drink and wine down.
Good Night
