need help with the color RED on dvx100

I just shot a live show and all they used was red lighting....I have shot things in the past where everything looked amazing except for anything that was really red, it always turned out jaggie. What is causing this and how do i prevent it? all the footage i shot the other night is useless because it is full of little jaggies. I shoot 24pa squeeze mode with - 4 detail, -8 ped, and so on. I am always really proud of my footage, but this color "red" is pissing me off. and the edges are jaggie no matter what i view it on or my export settings. In the past i didn't worry about this too much because it rarely popped up unless something was REALLY red, but i just shot all this footage and it is junk because of artifacts all over the edges.

Don't we all! LOL.

yes, that is a known byproduct of the dvx and it's 4:1:1 color resolution. What you need to impliment is a Chroma smoothing, or Chroma upsampling plugin. There are many avaiable, depending on your editing platform.
You should also make your final render in a 4:2:2 codec, ideally uncompressed, NOT DV, because that will reintroduce the problem.

I am using vegas 8 at the moment and i have a chroma blur setting that actually worked pretty well...anyway to sharpen it afterwards? it looks better, but a little blury...hmmm and by the way is there a setting for the 4:2:2 uncompressed output for video in vegas? is it a setting i don't know about or just something happens when you render uncompressed quicktime?

thank you so much, Logan

Can you set your timeline to uncompressed?

It will never be perfect, and it will look a lot better on an NTSC TV.
