Hey I am a brand new owner of a panasonic Gh1 and a zoom H4n and editing in final cut pro studio. Here is what I am asking for everyones opinions on.. (all respones are much appreciated) (much much appreciated). I will be shooting a short film next week and here is what I got.

1. I need to know what settings I should set the zoom h4n to to record the audio separate from the camera. Most of the footage will be shot in avchd 1080/24p. I know I can only set the zoom h4n to 44.1/16bit if the zoom is set in stamina mode. Is that o.k or should I record it in the other zoom modes.( how should I record the audio with the zoom h4n)

2.Also there will also be a red one on set as well as 2 gh1's will that same audio sync up to the video shot on the red as well.

2. Also what settings should i set the gh1 to when shooting in low light and should I always shoot 1080/24p in low light. ( maybe some help with iris settings)

any other suggestions to help my shoot would be much appreciated.
Thanks Jay

Audio for video is normally 48kHz. 16 bit is fine. The audio will not sync to anything other than by sheer coincidence. You will have to stretch or shrink it or split it and resync, unless the takes are short in which case any drift won't show.

If you are shooting something 'for real' next week and you're a brand new owner of the stuff you'll be using, you'd better get out with the equipment as soon as possible and get shooting relevant test material and working through your postproduction workflow so that you're up to speed when the shoot starts. That's really the only way to work out what's the best approach to the exact situations you'll be shooting in.
