Need Help With Equipment Questions for the 5d

Hello
I am looking to shoot a TV Pilot something like Entourage I want to shoot it on the canon 5DMK II here is my equipment list am looking to buy.
Please tell me if I am missing anything or if it is not worth buying.

I do have few shot on a car dont now how much i trust this with my camera the shot would be at no higher speed then 30 mph but seem a bit unsafe to me.
has any one used one?
Also is there anything I can use for a backup ?

I don't know where to start.

The two biggest things missing from your list are an experienced crew, and some A-list actors. As far as gear is concerned, you've got about 1/20th of what you'd actually need to shoot something at the Entourage level.

There is no need to give up your dreams. But build your way there. You can't just go buy a few lights and a camera, and shoot Avatar. That's the point here.

Why is it, that everyone wants the fast shortcut? Instead of shooting Entourage, shoot a few good local commercials first and cut your teeth. Maybe do a couple of shorts for a local film festival or the DVXUser festivals. Learn progressively. And after a few years of knowledge gathering, chase your dream.

Most of us have dreams. I started chasing mine years ago, and over 20 years have fulfilled most of them. I still have a few left and I'm working on those.


The fact is, by the time you're ready to shoot something that looks like Entourage, you'll be giving folks advice here, not asking for it.
 
Here's a list to get you started:

Nuts and bolts: Ditch the tripod you have listed, find something with a fluid head, a la Cartoni Focus, Vinten 5LF, Miller Solo, etc.

Also, that light kit looks a little weak. Better to opt for some used ARRI or Mole gear.

Get a set of matching lenses (Wide, Med, Tight) same manufacturer, vari ND filters from LCW, a good mic with mixer, wind screen, shock mount and boom pole, some wireless lav's, grip gear and light shaping devices, HD monitor, follow focus, Zacuto Z finder and a Red Rock Eye Spy.

Your mileage may vary.

Ginirig from eBay (It's awesome)
Juiced Link 5D with an AKG Bluelink CK93 mic with a boom pole.
Zacuto Z-Finder.

Yea, PerroneFord is a bit of a downer, kind of sounds like he wishes he were you....

Try to keep away from the India stuff on Ebay, it will work, buy not out of the box, you'll need to put time into fixing it (thats why they're cheap).
