Need help with audio sync between Viewer and Timeline

Hi, I am a new user and am confused about what is happening. When I play a clip in the viewer, the clip and audio plays in sync, but as soon as I drag and drop it into the timeline, the audio goes off by approx 9 frames. The strange thing is that this isn't happening to all of my clips, only some. Does it have something to do with how i made the subclips? Oh yeah, one other question, in the viewer what does the yellow triangle with a exclamation mark and green circle with a check mark over top of the media mean? I couldn't find this answer in the manuals. Thanks for the help.

What did you compress your original footage to ? If it is only some clips your clips may be corrupt.
Range Check -> Both to check for excess luma and chroma
The green check mark indicates you're within legal range
The yellow means your to high.

I am not the one who ingested the media, although I know it was loaded at 24fps, 2332 pulldown. If the clips were corrupt then how could they play fine in the viewer?

Good point. Is your machine powerfull enough to play the files? A cheap little trick is just move the audio the 9 frames you need !

yeah i figured that, it is just a pain to have to do that, when i know it isnt supposed, but i guess i will have to, thanks

It would be helpful if you would detail what you are doing with what on what hardware, software, media drive, computer, OS, FCP version, sequence settings, etc.

Every one is guessing right now.

Not sure exactly what he's asking... I spoke with SMSEditor (a couple of states away)
camera was the 100b, filmed and ingested 24 frame, FCP setup standard NTSC, used extracted pulldown, using Final Cut Studio Version 5, and Motion 2 ( not utilyzing Soundtrack Pro ) Apple Pro G5 Tower a couple of years old, also using a new Lacie 1 Terra standalone 7200 rpm harddrive bought from an apple store for video files... 30 frame timeline?, other than that not sure what he's asking either. If all the A/V clips play fine from the viewer, but not neccessarily from the canvas... don't quite get the problem yet either. SMS Editor is a first time FCP user. --- CL (later)

Yes that is right, what I have done is made subclips out of all of the orginal ingested clips in the viewer only. Then once I put some of them into the timeline, the audio is then approx 6 frams out on only some of the subclips, I can manually adjust this although know it shouldn't be that way. What i don't understand is how it plays perfectly fine in the viewer and then somehow doesn't in the timeline when I didn't change anything.
