Need help with a loose tripod head

I have a Manfrotto 503 head that just came off the legs when I was moving the tripod and I don't know how to put it back on again. I cannot find any screw to tighten the head back to the legs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is there no bolt sticking up from the tripod mount? The underside of the head should have a threaded hole.

What type of tripod are you using? Does it have a threaded male screw for
attaching the fluid head? Possibly it snapped off and is inside your head.

Thanks guys,

I have a Calumet tripod. The threaded male screw for
attaching the fluid head is intact but I don't know how the head gets screwed back on to it because they are not the same size.

?!

Then it should not have been attached to begin with. That's baffling.

Yeah, it seems the guys at Calumet glued the head on to the tripod because that is what it looks like now that it got loose!

Um...

Do you have a link for the original package that you purchased? I'd love to see what they're advertising with that. If it's not terribly old, maybe still under whatever warranty they said they offered, I'd call them on it. A tripod head glued onto an incompatible tripod is just downright deceitful.

And a new set of sticks from Bogen, compatible with your 503 head, wouldn't cost too much.

I bought it at their store in LA. I bought the head separately and they recommended those legs since I was looking for legs to go with it. They hooked them up and never had a problem until now.

They just wanted to sell you one of their tripods. They should have known better than to glue the head on and leave it at that. The mounting was bound to fail on you, as you have discovered.

Again, I'd look at a Bogen tripod at this point. It'll fit, and will be a better match to your head.

Thanks C2V. I guess that is what I have to do unless I want to glue it back on again.

At least I'm glad there was no camera and expenisve lenses mounted on it when it got loose. The guys I work with all tried to figure out how the head was mounted in the first place and one said that it for sure looks like it was glued.
