So here is what I want to do....
I have 5D Mark 2 interview clips I want to sync together with the recorded Zoom H4N audio clips and export as one file with new good audio sync so the person editing the project does not have to go through organizing/syncing sound clips. I first thought I would work them up in the native h.264 timeline and export same as source and convert in compressor to Pro Res. I don't have problems syncing the sound (99.9 speed and plural eyes seems to do the trick fast and easy). I have also transcoded to XDCam VBR 35 via Philip Bloom, but I hear variable bit rate is not great for files getting color corrected later (this is for a doc project and it will get color corrected). I thought going to the standard Pro Res would be fine, although the files get bloated (it's only the interview clips - about 2 hours total).
Should I go ahead and skip trying to do things native h.264, which I can not even find the right sequence set-up in FCP and it seems pretty choppy and first trancsode to Pro Res (I've never used Pro Res so what flavor of Pro Res - I'm not on the newest version of FCP), sync the sound and then export a new clip with new synce audio "same as source." This would not be double compressing right?
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks,
john
