need help - new dvx user

Just bought a DVX100A. Shot some footage yesterday and watched it on a regular tv and the footage looked great. Well I shot in squeeze mode and then watched the footage on my 32" hdtv and the footage looked not so great.

Is there a better setting or some sort of post you do to make the footage still look great on larger screens.

What are the best settings or whatever for larger screens because we are working on a new short that we hope to submit to some local film festivals.

Thanks

You lose resolution in Squeeze. You can either shoot with an anamorphic adapter, shoot 4:3 and crop in post, or accept it.

The raw squeeze footage doesn't look too good on an HDTV, though I watched some on my 40" LCD tv straight from my camera via S-Vid and it looked pretty good. It will look better after you edit it, then export as 1080 or 720.

Here: I made this on my DVX in squeeze mode and exported it as a 1080p video file...

After you edit, the footage is fine. I have seen some of my DVX footage on a 50inch and it looks superb. Remember if you shoot squeeze mode shoot thin.
