Need Help, I screwed up.

so I shot a short in 24pa, some of the footage looks great and some is jerky/flickerish. I did not notice while I was editing. does this have something to do with the transcode to the dvd, or did I jack up my framerate/shutterspeed ratio.
I need to fix this (if posssible ASAP)
Is this possible or should I start editing again?
Any clever ideas would be appreciated.
I'm using
AE 7
PPro 1.5

more info plz. what do u mean by "jerky/flickerish"? strobe effect? thin lines flicker? bad fields?

does this happen just on the dvd or also before the mpg2 compression?
try to export a little avi from the PPro project and see if it has the same problem.

obviously if it looks like that already in the raw footage, you can't do much about it. anywa first step is to understand at which step of the process the problem occurs: shooting/acquisition/exporting/encoding

It sounds like some of the footage had pulldown removed and some not. Or perhaps the pulldown was removed incorrectly. Verify the capture settings and projects settings you used in PPro 1.5 were consistent.

How do I check the pulldown? and IF that is the case whats the fix? I've gone back and looked at some of the clips and they look fine in premier. I used encore to make the dvd. Is there an ideal output from premier going to dvd? Please excuse my ignorance on the subject.

I'm mainly using FCP. If you single step through the frames of your captured footage, if you see an interlaced frame that looks like half of one frame and half of another frame then that's a good indication that the pulldown wasn't removed properly. You might want to share your project settings and capture settings in the Premiere forum here and see if someone there has more advice.

If it looks good on every frame and it plays back smootly on the computer -- then maybe something happened when you created the DVD.

I just went with the default in Encore, Build DVD?, Yep, Ignore and continue. Where and how do check the settings?
Thanks to all for the assistance thus far...

I would recommend exporting the MPEG2 directly from Premier Pro, then importing that file into Encore. I know that Encore can read PPro files without exporting first, but this way you can see where your problem lies.

If you are editing in 24 fps and it looks fine in the project file, my guess would be that somewhere along the line, one of your programs is trying to telecine the footage back to 30 fps. This shouldn't be necessary for DVD encoding. So export a 24fps MPEG2 file and then load this up in Encore to make your disc. Make sure Encore isn't trying to reencode the video stream.

Select all of your imported video in Encore and then go to file menu and choose Transcode Settings pop out menu. From the list choose the NTSC High Quality Progressive VBR 2 pass 7Mb and then go back to file menu and choose transcode now. Then wait for them all to finish transcoding. By choosing all of the videos first it will apply to them all at once. Otherwise you'll have to do them one at a time.
