Hi all,
I'm DP-ing a labor-of-love feature project in Wisconsin in January. First Unit will be shooting the second and third weekend. The film is a modern drama with strippers, lesbians, kidnapping, and murder. I have DPed shorts and a feature in the past but mostly single-cam.
What I have:
an HVX, sticks, lights, some sound, and the other basics.
What I need:
a HVX200/HPX170/HPX500 or at least a "nicer-than-HDV" cam like an EX-3 or the like. If you have any support gear, that's great, too (especially a monitor or wireless setup). If you are a cam op, great, as long as you can follow basic directions and be on-time. If you just want to quote me a rental rate, that's ok too.
What you can ask for in return:
Not all of these things will be on the table for anyone, but I will go to bat for you with the producers if you are bringing something awesome to the production.
quid pro quo (I can help you shoot something with my HVX and gear)
Payment for gear (we have a small budget for rentals)
Points (yes, I know points are worth not much)
Screen Credit (including a exec producer credit if you're taking a significant number of points)
Craft Services (a necessity)
Informal lodging if needed
Transportation if needed
I'll also let you be my facebook friend
Ideally, you'll see this as a big networking opportunity.
We're a young crew. The Director's credits include "Six Bullets" and "355", he was voted "Best Milwaukee Filmmaker" in 2006 by the ShepEx; the Producers' credits include docs for PBS, work with the London Film Commission and NBC Universal; my credits, check my IMDB; the writer has worked for Sci-Fi (but no, it's not a sci-fi movie).
You know what to do. If there is mutual interest I can get you a script if you sign an NDA.
Thanks!
