Need help finding a soundtrack!

Hi there,

I don't really know if this is the best place to post this but I have found no where else on this forum and am finding it hard to find other forums where this question may get answered. If you can point me in an alternative direction that would also be helpful.

Anyway, I am looking to put a soundtrack on my short film. I have a clear image of what the music should be like but I cant for the life of me find it (I would have a go composing it but I am on a timelimit and dont think I have enough time).

Here is my description: The main instrument would be an Accordion but woodwind instruments would work too. It is based on traditional French music. If anyone has seen the film Amélie by Jean-Pierre Jeunet I would like the music to be similar to that. Here is an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u82QrUL5dxE&feature=channel_page

I would use that song but its slightly too romantic. I need the music to have a very slight sinister undertone. I like the quirkiness of this song. All the songs from Amélie were composed by Yann Teiersen if that helps?

So I'm looking for a quirky, traditional, franch composition played on an accordion... I know

This whole post may be absolute nonsense to most of you but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Have you taken copyright laws into account? It's not as simple as finding a recording and adding it to your film. You have to have the clearances and permissions to use it.

There are a lot of royalty-free buyout libraries out there. BackTraxx, Killer Tracks, Sound Ideas, etc. Search around through their catalogs and you're bound to find something you like. You don't always have to buy the entire library, either... they often sell individual discs. The best part of these is that, once you have purchased it, you can use it to your heart's content without fear of copyright infringement (within their terms of use, of course).

Sorry, I should have mentioned that It's just for a university interview so I'm not too worried about copyright.

You're using as a portfolio to support your application to university or for a class assignment or project or is it a production for a university that will be released to the public like a press piece, etc? The former where only you and the interviewer will see it, probably no worries over copyright. But if it will ever be shown publically, you have to take copyright issues into account.

Its just for the interview. I plan to compose a piece for it myself but as I have limited time I am just looking for someone else's music to use for now.

Any ideas on this type of music?
